I think part of guras burn out is that she doesn't only want to be known as some woman who plays an anime character streamer shark girl. She wants to build other skills, and have other things that make her stand out. From most people's pov, possibly even her friends and cousins, aunts, uncles, they veiw her as a weirdo that panders to creeps. Then she has to worry about after, what happens after hololive. Is her biggest moment being the same same desu and that's it? Can she become big again as a other persona she has more control over? Singer? Voice actor? Bread baker? My wife? I think gura is appreciative of her fans, and loves being gura. I think the issue is she may be worried that being gura is the only hight and dream she can achive which isnt a future proof dream, and add that people close to her may not veiw this as somthing all that great. She wants to achive other goals too, that are more future proof.

I mean more that vtubing is maybe a 3 year to 7 year plan for most people, and doesn't have much skill set flexibility alone. Some chuubas pursue voice acting, singing, art, college, and so on to have more skill sets. The same goes for an artist, a successful project may only buy a couple years of stability, but once its done they have a skill set that may possibly be useful after for other projects and different art fields. If you are only a vtuber, once that is done what's left? More vtubing if you can. Which wouldn't be such a bad thing if the new vtubing character has more personal and creative freedom, but that isn't realistic for most and still only buys a little time. Its not the same as a career in other fields.

Gura is absolutely not appreciative of her fans. You don't ghost your fans, you don't make false promises of "I swear I won't do this behavior again", you don't just up and vanish constantly, and you sure as fuck don't take their money when you're not giving them anything in return.

Gura is a mooch, plain and simple. She may have some mental issues that cause her to behave that way, but that's a reason, not an excuse.

At this point, it's absolutely obvious that Vtubers aren't going anywhere. It's also obvious that her numbers aren't in decline, so she, herself are doing fine too. You're looking for excuses for her, when there really aren't any.

Seriously though, I kind of hope that she is, because I eventually got back in and earned my degree - nothing would please me more than for Gura to also find her true second wind hopefully SHE doesn't take like six years of existential despair and hopelessness to pull herself together, though.
What worries me is that your answer seems to imply that the LIKELY outcome is that she's seriously not going to EVER come back, and that we can't depend on Cover or management for help in that regard. Do you think the analogy extends that far, or is there something fundamentally different about the nature of college and working as a performer (streamer/influencer/idol/etc.) - or Gura specifically, for that matter - that would give cause for hope?

Looking back, it's honestly impressive that a doormat like herself managed to find such unrivaled success in this line of work. As much as retards call streaming the easiest job in the world, I for one could never do it in a million years because I find the very idea of having an audience of thousands of people over the internet, let alone streaming to them live - or even having an identifiable digital footprint at all - extremely terrifying and paranoia-inducing, and I'm not nearly as much of a doormat as she is I'm not necessarily proud to admit that there have been several cases where I've aggressively shouted down, viciously insulted, physically fought, and on one occasion even badly mutilated someone because they were a *tiny fraction* as rude to me in public as, for example, the flight attendant was to Gura.

They don't drop out because of stress or health issues. She's not. She is humble, anxious, conflict-averse, and female (more neurotic, socially sensitive, etc.), and has spoken in the past both about her tendency to avoid her problems. In other words, while she is talented and capable of putting in hard work to produce high-quality results when she's in the right headspace, she is also mentally fragile and not particularly confident, as you seem to think. Impressive feats don't translate into a buff to mental fortitude for such people.
