MZM are otaku who reference a wide variety of manga all the time. Inaba Haneru has hosted multiple manga related collabs and she's friends with many mangaka and illustrators like Akasaka Aka (Kaguya), Tsukushi Akihito (Made in Abyss), Nishi Yoshiyuki (Muhyo & Roji) and Shiwasu no Okina (famous hentai artist). Plenty of Nijis are well versed in older Jump manga. Not a corpo, but Tenkaiji is literally the Kaiji vtuber.

Depends on what you're calling good taste.

There're actually quite a good amount of /a/ core vtubers but personally I'd much rather watch a chuuba with very defined unique tastes even if I hate half the shows on their list than someone who's clearly just been watching what's popular on 4chan even though those are the same shows I've been watching.

Several chuubas like Umineko, so I am assured of their taste. Fubuki's favorite is Erika in fact, because as a niconico era hag her tastes are pretty solid. Also they are told not to shittalk much because if kadokawa or some other big name publisher gets wind of a talent dunking on their products, it could harm the corpo as a whole.
