Coco's is justified - she's a grappler. Sora's 5M > 6M > 236M still makes me want to kms cos she can just do it over and over, plus a host of air ub / guardbreak bs if you try to chicken block or jump in. I can't even come up with an excuse to justify that shit. Botan's combos are more just knowledge checks really - just burst right and you'll be fine. Funny stuff, I've seen her super beat by burst before.
You can even choose to Burst when reach the wall instead. Most don't know how to punish that lol

Botan? Oh, you'll get used. Block a lot, tech when you can. She becomes a lot less scarier when you realize you can safely jump over/os after 2H in blockstrings. If she commits to 2H>3H to stop you from jumping, you'll get a free mashout. Her favorite stagger options are 2L (watch out for a tic throw), and mostly 2M (5M oughta do if you don't feel like blocking, as well as privileged shit like Suisei 2M); to get a feel for 2M staggers, load her up in training, or just play her yourself - she's mindless fun.

Guys I think Idol Showdown made a mistake in its game design.

In order to be loved by the players, it needs to be MORE obtuse and communicate LESS information at every step of the way.

Getups should only have one frame of animation, and make it almost indistinguishable from the idle and crouch. It should also be completely unclear what kind of knockback you've taken until your opponent has already hit you again. Oh, and for good measure, blocks should be frame THREE, but contain no useful pose change on startup, so you never know if you actually did them or not.

Frankly, I'm fucking SHOCKED the idiot devs didn't figure this out before launch!

The only character I haven't played I was considering since launch. Taking a break hasn't worked in the past, though at least it kept me from hating/tainting things I like forcing it. I've just been on a nonstop "I'm too miserable to enjoy things" streak which is a new thing for me. Usually I can enjoy things enough playing the way I want to play it to come back. I feel no urge with anything I play nowadays.
