Why is there so much division, in terms of Dan between Hololive EN and JP? Aren’t they the same at the end of the day?

No, americans aren't human

How are they the same? With EN I can tolerate maybe two of them but overall I think they are a bland bunch with little chemistry between them. With JP I have a lot more options, and even the worst generation (Gen 1) has a few gems in it.

The people who undestand japanese and can fully enjoy JP chuubas generally have little else in life to feel superior about

Honestly I think Dan would have liked both JP and EN!
But there's no way he would done his Japanese reps, even as a huge anime fan, so he probably would have gushed about EN more.

RIP Dan

because EN has a much smaller pool of potential talent to draw from. most westerners know nothing of how to be idols and how to have otaku interests. jp girls know all about it

so it's no surprise you'll only see EN reach maybe 1 Dan or 2 Dan. Nowhere near the 5-6 Dan average of holojp, let alone the 9 Dan Pekora

I saw this thread last night and now that I'm looking at it again I still have no idea what the fuck Dan is. What is it even a typo of? How did it get there? We demand answers OP

Fans, probably. There really is no difference except JP otakudan have higher standards and thus are significantly more based.

Except when it comes to pekora's new greeting. It turned out to be so bad that it became charming. They should've bought instead of selling.

Being Japanese, HoloJP are literally born into the birthplace of some of the worlds greatest martial arts, in a culture where martial arts are not just respected but revered. Whilst westerners are often encouraged to take up some form of martial art as children and many westerners practice a form of martial arts in adulthood as a form of exercise or self-defence, it is much harder for westerners to find true martial arts masters to teach them compared to the Japanese, where there is a greater abundance of Dojos and interenationally revered martial arts schools. As such, it is more commonplace for Japanese martial artists to be higher dan-ranked practitioners than their western counterparts. I hope this helps.
