You're making my point. A lot of people don't make a habit of watching a full 3+ hour stream regularly. At most they will watch part of the stream live and may finish the rest in VOD form. Just like with movies, 3+ hours is a commitment that requires exceptional circumstances for the viewer to feel comfortable with the commitment. It's the same reason why people feel comfortable watching the LOTR trilogy once a year with friends when they've made a big event out of it.

The group of people willing (not to mention, able) to watch 3+ hour streams in one sitting are probably quite limited.
