It's highly exaggerated on /vt/ because a few NijiEN members never learned or are too young and have yet to learn to not feed the trolls. As popular as this place is it's still only a fraction of most vtuber fans and their NijiEN oshis are quietly streaming and entertaining them with no drama. That's the majority of NijiEN.

The real sauce has to do with the behind the scenes stuff, generally most of the talent are victims of subpar management and deserve better. Or at least that used to be the case, things may have improved. I'm not quite as in the loop as I was last year.
