The Ukigumo level was actually one of the first ones I designed. It might be a little less refined in design than some of my later ones, but as with a lot of the non-meme levels it's based around one concept/trick and the difficulty is around recognising the right approach. In this case I seem to recall it's the specific position that the long u piece needs to be in.

The less refined part / lesson learned is that the possibility space is very open. Normally the design guides the solution by deliberately limiting options and/or making some partial configurations clear, but with this one there are a lot of wrong configurations you can stumble around on without learning much about the solution.
