Or why indie groups make KING and Ussewa covers.
Or why so many can sing songs like Country Road and God knows.
Or why literal 2views as well as Pekora dabble with Apex.

Vtubers are ultimately about chasing numbers, and that requires engaging with the most popular games + the most popular songs. Not all of them, of course, like Korone who often plays obscure games, but most vtubers are like Pekora, going after the fads and numbers.

Ironically, Uto's best song cover would be a meme song unique to her. Angel with a shotgun. Another niche she popularized is Duolingo. She wasn't the first to try it, but she was the first to do it regularly and prove it could be entertaining. But those alone get stale after a while, so Uto has to go back to the popular things to figure out the next best thing.

Mostly correct but the ghosting artist thing wasn't some kind of elaborate plan since it didn't result in anything. More like miscommunication and a lapse in attention. It wasn't even a huge deal, and Uto was only silent because she was fighting a company in court while the artist went on his rant.

About leaving the company, the best comparison is with the story of Dave Chappelle trying to get away from the contract with Comedy Central (told in the "Unforgiven" episode). What ultimately mattered was Nabi declaring her support for Uto's ownership, as well as Fungi, though they still went to court. Presumably, Uto was either able to prove the terms were grossly invalid, or she refused to work for the company so they had to cut their losses. It was a bitter end, and since Uto is unlikely to risk Nabi's ire with a public lie, that much is the truth. That doesn't mean she can't join a new company, but she no longer needs the exposure or the connections a company provides, and she then said it was better for her to be an indie now.

It's actually correct. Uto admitted it in a member stream when she discussed Coco's situation and all the above. She could have denied or walked around it, but she admitted she got to know Nabi through the company. But building a personal relationship with Nabi, enough so that Nabi would support her in court, was due to Uto.

It's actually the same as Kana, who introduced herself as Indie before revealing in 2 months or so that she was working for a company called Tsunderia (which she then quit). And no one has any ideas if any other indie tubers are in the same position.

Kagura Nana is an indie but she has her own staff team with their own twitter. And many youtubers (like Karl Jobst) make their own companies with just one or two people. So it's effectively impossible to check if the indie vtubers are "true indies" (vtuber wiki says as much), if they want to hide it. Uto, however, instead of staying silent, admitted to all of it and told the whole story with Nabi (see above). It teaches an important lesson: even if you have done wrong, just come clean and see if people will still be okay with you. Don't be combative and make videos attacking people like Dream.
