Honestly, it's for the best - once they turned into "heavily supported by management" events they kinda lost the drive. Yes, originally girls had to build everything by themselves, but it was worth every moment and the ending result felt far more satisfying. And while custom servers, custom rules and hundreds of Cover employees working in the background greatly lessen the burden for Miko and Mio (and Subaru once there were three teams), to me it didn't feel like THEIR event anymore - more like something organized by Cover and not holomems themselves.

I never liked Minecraft either, but what else is there that gives similar freedom? Roblox? Any actual MMO they would pick for something like that would be a hell of characters locked to servers. Most other games, as fun as they can be, would lock them to specific gameplay. Something like Warcraft 3 custom maps require tons of coding in editor to do anything advanced, too complex to get things going, even if you could get some amazing results. Maybe for others but if anything the past year has been a slow realization that maybe Hololive isn't the place for me as a fan. There are still talents like Korone who are more geared into what I like but when I looked back at the stuff that matters most to me and I got the most enjoyment out of it is more and more events from 2019 and 2020 and very few of anything recent. The push towards Idoldom is something I bear with and while I don't resent it it also doesn't interest me a whole lot. I just want a company that is more 'Netflix and chill' and not so much 'Learn the language, travel to Japan/NYC/LA and fangirl to your Idol girl for a minute'. I feel increasingly out of step with the rest of the fandom with each passing year.

Management projects are always shit and outside of the good old 6 holos (miko, subaru, mio, pekora, koyori and towa) nobody wants to do anything beyond their individual activities and nowadays said activities are mostly shilling shit for Cover, not even streaming or doing idol shit.
cover should support and recompense talents for doing stuff beyond the minimal wage shit they’ve pushing them to do. Hololive became a thing because there were people who cared but nowadays not only the newest hires don’t give a shit and are comfy doing the bare minimum, Cover itself are exploiting everyone to the point the talents who want to do projects like that are losing the drive because it’s just too much work.
