I agree that your mic gain could be adjusted slightly. A full hour of talking, your very first time! I want to see you on wvt in the future

>>6117890 You know what you're talking about and know how to give commentary, but you don't speak very clearly. I've found that using my core to speak helps very well in pacing and clarity.
Also no offense but the voice modifier is just not my thing. Thematically fitting, sure, but if you could tone it down even a bit, that'd help too. I've never used a voice modifier myself so I'm not sure if you can set the opacity of them similar to drawing on a layer, for instance.

>>6134860
We thank you for taking the time to do the feedback! Using the core is something we were not aware of, and will apply to further streams. Also, knowing that the commentary itself isn’t terrible will help reduce talking fast.
The voice modifier comment is also taken into account. Opinions vary on whether it should be there, but it certainly can be adjusted in the amount of modulation. Perhaps, speaking clearly will make up for it too.
Once again, your advice is very helpful.

I thought about staying close to the original norse design but they look more like Kappa monsters with kind of goblin-like faces. My ideal would be somewhat human with merman-like features, and long hair, but with legs since they do have legs and feet.

I'm still trying to workshop the idea since I'm not too good with art or connected and intended to do a shitty PNG in Krita to start off with at first. First Idea though was a nature character like a druid but found that to be too hard to make distinct since there's a million Druid designs out there from TTRPGs and even other Vtubers. Something like this might stand out a bit more imo, without being so restrictive or gimmicky

I just sent my four watches over to someone else playing the samegame, as they were only on 9 minutes, and had 1 viewer.

Sat in there for 5 minutes, and after 'thanks for the raid', they said nothing.

Is there a team for /here/ chuubas, so I can check? I don't want to raid into some rando with a small group, but none of the people I follow were online

Actually an entire underwater theme could work with a mermaid chuuba. Just think about it, having bubbles occasionally rise from the screen, maybe a fish swimming by. The physics could be interesting since the hair would be floating freely in the water, so physics would be different.

>>6136065
eh... I mean as a gimmick sure. But a bland vtube model that's at least appealing to look at is gonna be leagues more popular than a disgusting goblin monster with a super elaborate design. I'd say to focus on something appealing rather than just gimmicky.

you also have to be careful about what you choose and how you do it!

for instance, if someone were to make, like, a sexy wendigo or something, i can probably bet a dollar that they've been canceled on twitter or something before their career even got to start because of people defending whatever that thing is super heavily. i dont know why it would be deemed so offensive (i havent read about what it is), but it just is, and its best to avoid situations like those, you know?

Don't take things like this as the absolute gospel. If all you're playing is games you know inside and out then you still run the risk of it just being bland with little emotion outside of just conversational topics and "haha i bonked this enemy on the head".

Reactions are one of the biggest things people look for in streamers, it's why you need a face as a vtuber. It's why so many people do chatting streams where they just watch videos with chat, it's why people like spooky games. If I'm playing Bioshock for the 12th time, what surprise is there? It's just me breezing through the game. No eureka moment when you get through a small puzzle or beating a hard fight, no real reaction to anything. It's why people like watching you play "their" game for the first time, to use an extreme example, Undertale, or Dark Souls, or Nier. They've all got fanbases that love seeing new people playing their game.

There's nothing wrong with playing what you know, but losing out on natural reactions to new content is such a big handicap. It's like your friend sending you a meme and you just saying "haha yeah, i saw that." instead of mashing the keyboard in response to some funny vid you just saw for the first time. Which do you think your friend would like more?

I understand reactions make for good content, but I'd be wary of streaming a game I want to experience for the first time without the distractions and follower notifications, etc, like Silent Hill. There are different ways to hold audience attention, that's one of them.

How you entertain an audience and keep them there totally depends on your demographic. The VTuber meta often relies on completely different methods to hold an audience.

my 2 cents. The textures suck and don't mesh well with your character. Too realistic/overly detailed. I know it's hard to work with this 3d shit and textures, especially if you don't have much experience with digital art or any art programs like krita or clip studio or something like photoshop, but I think trying to make toned down textures will really help in making your character more visually appealing. If I were you I'd think about going with a solid color for the jacket so it doesn't blend in with the wings, then attempt some subtle clothing folds and shading in the jacket to give it more visual appeal. For the jeans, I'd shrink that texture and lower the opacity to like 10% or something, also add some shading, like where the jackets covers the jeans. For the wings I'd get rid of that texture and look at drawings of anime moth girls and pay attention to how those artists detail and shade their wings, then try and do the same and add some shadows in the back. The hat I'd clean up the textures a bit and try adding some shading at the bottom. If you want a good example of what I'm talking about look at Roberu's 3d Model. His clothing textures have painted on shading and folding, keep in mind though that your model's clothes are pretty flat/not folded so you don't need to get too crazy with the shading. Your wings though is where you can really go nuts with the shading.

tl;dr at least get rid of the jacket texture and add shading to the wings

Sometimes he random posts clips of chuubas that make almost no sense, as if he accidentally hit the clip butting (and this is mainly how people became aware of his existence)
Recently he has been streaming his TV screen running Fallout New Vegas with some weird action figure nin front of the camera, ask "is this vtubing?" and then post a screen cap of his analytics usually showing numbers like, 0.2 average views with 60+ hours streamed per session saying "the switch to twitch sure was a big boost! gotta keep grinding"
he's been at it for a while in both /asp/ and /wvt/ so if you're around the threads you'll probably notice some of the things I mentioned

>> No.6153597

voice acting is fine, i do not understand the language, but the tone, pacing, inflection are pretty good.

your issue sounds more like a hardware, maybe software issue. your microphone's Gain is set way too high and it's recording a lot of background noise. the humming and buzzing is reducing the quality of your audio clip.

are you using an integrated microphone for your device? for example, a laptop mic, or the microphone built into a USB webcam? those are two very big offenders for bad sound quality.

you should look into getting a separate USB microphone, like the Elgato Wave 3. it's super simple to use, plug it in, install the Wave Link software, and you're ready to go. you may also want to consider the XLR route, though that's a bit more advanced.

audio issues aside, your voice seems fine to me. but you really need a better microphone.

anonymously in here you get random people giving shitty advice or being unnecessarily antagonistic but usually in-person or in stream most of those people are fine and keep themselves in check

the first major hurdle you have to deal with as a vtuber is to get 10-20 viewers, once you get that you can start to build up by yourself. posting to /wvt/ is enough to get you maybe 4-5 if you're new and decent at streaming, not even amazing. If you're pretty good and been going for about a month or two you can get 18-20 like power nelson.

having that start is pretty good, just make sure when you do it to not reference wvt, asp, or 4chan in any way and tell people who bring those up to shut up in your chat
it cuts off the 4chan connection early and stops your growth from being hurt by some idiot typing moonman in your chat

They don't have to, but creating a model for Live2D rigging is very different from traditional digital illustration. The artist needs to take note of all the potential movement there is with the rigging, do an exploded diagram of simple objects like buckles and clasps so the rigger can deform the pieces to get smooth movement. Another big thing is filling in 'voids' that appear when separate layers move and there are gaps between the pieces.

Expect to pay an extra charge if the artist is unfamiliar with drawing for Live2D and expect it to take a while longer too.

who do you want to watch your stream?
what does a person like that want to watch?
how do you know what they want to watch?
what do you intend to stream in order to get this type of person to watch?

it's a question that wants you to show you put some actual effort into knowing what the market is like and that you understand how you are going to appeal to and grow an audience as a content creator
are you going to appeal to mid 20 something people who want to watch someone play their favorite retro games?
are you going to appeal to people who want a laid back entertainer to hang out with and laugh with?

good evening, anons, I got a different type of question.
My vision of vtubing isn't about money, it's purely about my fun and viewers' entertainment. I have some decent vtuber friends and they're somewhat successful for a country without, like, no vtuber scene at all, but they're split between Twitch and YouTube. I wouldn't have problem with that, but here's the tricky part - From what I've read from Twitch's partnership terms you can't be partnered with more than one streaming site if you're on Twitch. My partnerships, if they ever came to existence, wouldn't be about earnings, but about viewers' benefits.
And to avoid ToS or copyright/DMCA strikes I'd move to some other streaming site or even Discord. I've been to some virtual conventions and we've seen live that it's below Discord's technical capabilities to host more than 25 people on screensharing or 99 to be in the same voice channel.
1. What are some streaming sites who wouldn't be harsh on DMCA if I wasn't to earn any money directly?
2. What are other non-brower programs which would allow me to stream through OBS and host larger groups of people?
3. Is it possible to actually multi-platform as a streamer?

You can be partnered by other streaming sites if you're partnered with Twitch, there are tons of people who are both YouTube and Twitch partner, the issue would lie in streaming to both at the same time. But there's a lot of people who do stream on both, more guerilla on YouTube and their usual content on Twitch.

I think even for corporate tubers covers are something they do because they want to more than anything. I'll do it some day, there is a poe league coming out that I'll have no choice but to stream because I'll be sitting there for 30 hours per day regardless. That is if I can stop being a bitch and just do it.

I think it's still important to start out with some base though and try to branch out over time, also space out your games, play games that are kind of similar, and then keep shifting the genres to wherever you please. Example of this would be, I saw someone go from action game -> action rpg -> a "lighter" rpg (like pokemon) -> "full on" rpg (final fantasy), that person had to ease their audiences into it because it would have been a huge risk going directly from fast paced action game directly to a slow jrpg.
Also commitment is pretty important, at this level you get more out of seeing something through because people who watch small streamers tend like to seeing someone react and then immediately get to talk to them about it live. If you're afraid of long committals, I'd recommend picking short games that are like 10-15 hour long.

I got some ideas I find fresh, like cooking shows watchalongs or C-class movie nights. Not just "open the stream for commentary and the video in a different window", but the whole idea of it to be synchronised and live. Hence the copyright issues. DMCA applies to the fact that I'd just get very quickly tired of the same looped background music for more than three days. My solution would be just classical and folk music which I unironically enjoy and would often talk about it, but if there's a way to just play spotify or movie/game OSTs without any problems then I'd like to know that.

My gimmicks would be strategy games and "history/culture/linguistics lessons" in form of a presentation and Q&A after + aforementioned cooking shows watchalongs. Not just Masterchef of 6+ editions, but also Great British Bake Off or Kitchen Nightmares and anything like that. I'm doing majors in history and slavic filology and I'd like to put them to good use for the people who'd watch.

When it comes to *the* strategy games I got a grudge against modern Paradox, so hold your horses, nothing like cringy reddit HoI4 memes would come out of that. I also just don't like Civ in general, but might give it a shot with friends. The focus would be on less known RTS games (I'm part of an extremely small community of a 20yo game consisting of like 30 people in total and we'd sell our houses to attract more people so going viral with VTubing might be a good idea) or trying to advance in ranked ladders of the bigger ones like CoH2 or SC2.

I totally despise that whole idol culture and preferably would not get involved in singing at all, not to mention that my vocal skills are not fit for popular songs, my english accent is not fit for american hits and generally I'd avoid it as long as possible, but I came out with an idea of joint community singing (karaoke with friends or even viewers at some point) and focusing on military marches, folk songs, pure meme music or sea shanties. So you know, it doesn't have to sound professional at all. Engaging viewers into something sounds like a recipe for disaster and, honestly, it's true, but I got a way to select people and I think it might turn out just fine.
I got a concept design, name, lore, concept backgrounds and even concept advertisement campaign. The only issue is money and funding of all that stuff. I'd also have to upgrade my PC, but that is the first step, VTubing is the addition.
>>6200634

There's some science to it but the more important thing is your own personal tolerance. If you can be your best for 2-3 hours a day and bring your A game to the stream then do it. There's people who do 6+ hour streams because they know they can be entertaining for the entire time. My personal theories is that if you have gaps in-between streams your audience gets blue balls and will look forward to the next stream extra hard, but there's also the opposite that can happen, if you stream often then you will take up all your audience's attention.

>Not just "open the stream for commentary and the video in a different window", but the whole idea of it to be synchronised and live.
This is the problem - it's more than guaranteed to get copystriked. Even if said videos are completely free and openly available. As long as nobody holds rights to the franchise it should be safe, but you'd have to pick extremely unpopular things to watch to not get into trouble and just Masterchef is the danger zone. I remember one polish streamer's case of watching a shitty dating reality show and getting copystriked by the television itself for showing it live - even though said show was free to watch and open to everyone. They just can't let some ad pennies and numbers go.
