This will probably get dismissed because i'm saying something negative about Hololive, but i really do think it's a bit of a shame that Hololive's sucess pidgeonholed vtubing into bein an idol and mostly corporate thing. I think it could have been an interesting evolution of just content creators in general, but now because of Hololive's overwhelming market control it has become inseparable from the idol mindset and just corporativism in general. Even when you see a cool indie vtuber you see him as that, a vtuber, rather than an youtuber who happens to use an avatar, which i think could have been a nice way to go.
