It depends on how the contracts are written that those haven't been leaked (yet). Jason's conversation with Athy and maybe others involves him throwing around random numbers but it's hard to tell if the contracts didn't specify how much the talents need to pay if they sever the contract or if Jason's too retarded to reference it. Even if they sue it's unlikely the cases will go anywhere since (apart from Mew) none of them are in Taiwan

Despite the investment that must've gone into their stuff, AA seems to be a pretty small company (although I don't know if the stuff I find is up to date) so it's possible that they can go into indefinite hiatus and have basically 0 expense (the company address is a residential building, which might well by Jason's home) until everything blows over. That said AA's name is probably forever tarnished in the English vtubing circle so Jason will probably have better chance starting over under a different brand, as his name is not very uncommon so that plus language barrier can probably shield him from AA's negative press

It's not even a question of worker protections so much as what you can put in a contract and actually enforce. If you're working on contract, the basic framework is "you do X work and we pay you Y", if you stop doing X work then they can terminate you but they can't realistically sue for damages because the only potential "damage" is Y that they paid you and you haven't Xd for yet. There's simply no plausible legal theory for 5 or 6 digit "damages" for someone deciding to hang up their hat early because anything else you spent on the contractor's behalf is your own responsibility, if it weren't then you would have explicitly and separately arranged for them to pay it. At best they can get away with "this model is licensed to you for the duration of the contract and not part of your compensation" etc. "You owe us money on a scale that's bigger than we were ever going to pay you" is straight up what I'd expect to hear from human traffickers and similar lowlife scum.
