[Randonneuring Wikipasta Guy No.]

Randonneuring (also known as Audax in the UK, Australia and Brazil) is a long-distance cycling sport with its origins in audax cycling. In randonneuring, riders attempt courses of 200km or more, passing through predetermined "controls" (checkpoints) every few tens of kilometres. Riders aim to complete the course within specified time limits, and receive equal recognition regardless of their finishing order. Riders may travel in groups or alone as they wish, and are expected to be self-sufficient between controls. A randonneuring event is called a randonnée or brevet, and a rider who has completed a 200km event is called a randonneur.[1][2] The international governing body for randonneuring is Audax Club Parisien (ACP), which works with other randonneuring organisations worldwide through Les Randonneurs Mondiaux (RM). Randonneuring is popular in France, and has a following in the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Italy, Australia, the United States, Canada, Brazil, Ireland, India, Indonesia, Korea, Japan and Malaysia. In the late nineteenth century Italy, day-long "challenge" sports became popular. Participants aimed to cover as much distance as possible and prove themselves audax ("audacious").[3] The first recorded audax cycling event took place on June 12, 1897, when twelve Italian cyclists attempted the challenge of cycling from Rome to Naples, a distance of 230 kilometres (140mi), during daylight hours.[4] Similar events became popular elsewhere, and in 1904 French journalist Henri Desgrange produced Audax regulations, which belonged to his Auto newspaper. Under the Audax regulations, riders rode as a group. Successful riders were awarded a certificate called a Brevet d'Audax. A group of successful audax cyclists formed the Audax Club Parisien (ACP), which took over the organisation of Audax events on Desgrange's behalf. In 1920, there was a disagreement between Desgrange and the ACP. Desgrange withdrew ACP's permission to organise events under his Audax regulations, and ACP created its own allure libre (free-paced) version of the sport, where successful riders were awarded certificates called Brevets des Randonneurs. This style is now popularly known as "randonneuring".

Im self taught lol. When it gets to the solid color pieces I start booting up my pattern recognition lizard brain. For picrel I look for pieces with left and up outies and reference those possible presorted chunks. I stead of brute forcing it, I look for a piece with a ) curve on the left side with a pretty normal peg, and a flat top side with a right leaning peg. It'll usually be the first piece you pick up if you get your pattern recognition gears going

I tried playing it a few years back for the first time, on switch if it matters, and I got perhaps halfway through the game when I got murdered in a fight about 50 times and said fuck it I'm playing a different game in my backlog. Kotor 1 is...fine. It's like the definitive "Star Wars Experience" in videogame form outside of the Jedi Knight games. It doesn't push any boundaries, it doesn't ask any deep questions, it is what you expect out of something telling a SW story in 2003 and riding on the hype wave of the prequels while trying to be more like the original trilogy.
Kotor II on the other hand is considered one of the best-written CRPGs ever made and asks some real questions of the setting from the perspective of a writer who genuinely loves SW but has some niggling issues with its morality.

I'm already for a week enjoying Jagged Alliance 3 which was recommended to me by anon from this thread. Somewhat of an eclectic game, base is tactic turn-based but there are some manadgment, some rpg elements etc. It's pretty neat

I feel you on simple pick up games, the only reason I haven't gone back to being obsessed about Zomboid is because I'm forcing myself to finish bg3 first. As an aside, I was very much into splatoon 3 when it dropped and was getting pretty decent, but then my friend stopped playing it and I lost motivation since I would only play either single player or multiplayer matches with my friend. I kinda miss playing it but then again the skill floor has risen so much since I have stopped playing it. Being too afraid to start playing a competitive game after it has existed a good long while and has a high general skill floor is why I struggle to push myself into actually playing splatoon 3 or team fortress 2, the latter of which I literally have not played for like 14 years I think

honestly I only just open up splatoon 3 for salmon run nowadays kek (and I still think its worth every cent. chilling with salmon run after a long day is fun imo and i grinded myself to top ranks in it not because i felt like it but it just naturally came with playing it so often almost everyday).
