I want to eat Ina, literally. Her squishy hair tentacle thingies looks so delicious. I bet they taste like a combination of plums and peaches. Every time I look at them, my mouth starts drooling. Inas squishies are like an unknown, forbidden fruit and just imagining their taste drives me crazy.

i'm sorry but is there a common sense argument in favor of this retarded "permissions" shit?
as far as i understand it, the product of videogames is an interactive one. i can fully understand not freely streaming movies or music that doesn't belong to you, because the entire point of music, for example, is to do nothing but listen to it.
videogames are only truly "consumed" by playing it yourself. it's like showing a picture of the soundwaves of a song and calling that copyright infringement.
it makes no sense to me.

You say that but with games moving towards cinematic storytelling a lot of times it's just a movie with gameplay padding. I know I could watch Asura's Wrath or God of War on youtube and never feel the need to play it.
But no, the reason is mostly companies being protective of their IPs thanks to cancerous IP laws.

This is not about people not playing the game after having watched it, this is about a company paying another company to use its resources. If you're a company and want to put some music at an event, you have to pay for the music. Cover is a company, they are not individual streamers, so they must act like a company and get permissions, which could be monetary deals. If they don't, the companies can issue copyrights strikes

Also, some narrative games can be "consumed" through a streamer. I'll never play the Edith Finch game because I already have most of the experience and redoing it would be to me really lame

>> No.5941605

Point is holos are contracted under a company to play said games where they turn on the monetization. So in the end everyone involved besides the game developer earns some kind of money from playing a product by a game developer.

Yeah it can be a grind. I spent 1800 hours on MHW and now that I've had a good amount of time away from the game I regret it. It was definitely fun at the time though and was great stress relief. If you want to start, play MHW. It's the easiest in the series IMO and the devs included things to make it less of a grind compared to other entries.

>> No.5942114

>>5941351
The RNG grind isn't all that bad for most of the game - only the special monster parts like gems and mantles are consistent, and there are a bunch of ways you can boost the chance of getting them.
Examples include investigations (quests with bonus higher rarity rewards), vouchers and certain meals that will improve reward quantity or rarity.
If you're really down on your luck or just feel lazy, World regularly awards tickets that can be traded in for a special material of your choice - same goes for lower rarity mats through melding (trading in other mats of similar rarity that you don't need).
Probably the worst RNG grind is the decoration system, but even then you have event quests that will give oodles of them at once. The rare decorations that are hard to find are more of an endgame minmax thing, too, so if you aren't interested in fully minmaxing your character you can just get by with regular equipment bonuses. By the time you start needing high rarity decos for endgame fights you'll probably already have them just from passive gains.

>>5941379
Also this; it's way more fun with friends. Changes the experience entirely, especially if you're all playing through the progression together.

I feel my main reason for liking the first is because it feels more like a really long episode/arc that was put together into a movie. Lulu was fan-canon eldritch and Chammers was fan-canon eldritch.
Official eldritch designs specifically is probably not likely since Lovecraft as a historical person is such a spicy topic.
You're right though. Even Ina doesn't have a true "eldritch" form unless you want to count her tentacles being visible as such.

I don't think so, the problem is more that it's really hard to do right (especially in a tightly constrained environment like Hololive) and not many people want this

That's true

>eldritch beings would be absolutely primed for content like that
I'm not that sure about that. What Haachama did was play on her mental health, which is something people already wondered about and is realistic. While we "know" Haachama/Haato don't exists, it's still probable that it's the way she's dealing with schizophrenia/a lost twin/some real mental health issue. Stuff about eldritch being on the other hand is way more fantastic, and usually relies a bit too much on being rather short. But I may be wrong on that, that's just the way I see things.
I also think that Haachama had success because she made lots of lore in a very popular group that usually doesn't do any lore at all, which is hard to reproduce if you're just an indie. A good way to see if a vtuber would work is to see if a regular youtber would work. Are there currently people making a living or getting a bit popular by making Lovecraft inspired content? I don't know, but I think it's a good start

Yes she did but she did it in a way that had mass appeal. There is no doubt in my mind that there was a massive subset of people who went the "it's not that deep" approach and just watched without giving the message a second thought just because it was a cool new thing literally nobody else did.
Considering how long Cover let her run free with seriously heavy lore, I think the girls probably have some freedoms when it comes to that sort of content. As long as they keep it a little more lighthearted.

> A good way to see if a vtuber would work is to see if a regular youtber would work.
Is it though? There's a reason for the avatar. I could name several chuubas that would never ever work in a non-vtuber setting because their avatar boosts them so fucking hard.

All I'm saying is:
There is untapped potential here. Eldritch or not.
Ina mentioned before that she had "vague" lore plans probably including Violet and I truly hope that other vtubers (hololive or not) follow suit.

Of course there is no way you could just "take off" with lore content unless it's unusually well produced. That would insanely hard as an indie of course. But if you are making money regularly even without a company I would reinvest some of my earnings back into my hypothetical character and create some lore content.

It's true. Most people don't think much of the meaning behind her "schizo" stuff and what it means for Chammers irl because frankly, there is no reason to. It's just a semi-interactive, live story meant to entertain us and that's all there is to it. She even explained this to her viewers at the end of her first COEXIST story arc for those who still didn't realize this at that point.

I've also heard somebody said that Chammers' horror arc was really popular in places like Latin America because of the occult theme, even though Vtubers in general are not a big thing there. So yes, there is definitely a market for Vtuber lore (of any kind), provided that the streamer has the exposure to an audience beforehand.

That's pretty much what I think/do too, I wouldn't want to discuss with the takos here somewhere else. My point was that I don't search for lasting friendships here, but if I ever encounter someone (IRL or through something else than 4chan) that's a fan of Ina, I know that it's a good idea to pay attention because we may have a lot in common. 4chan's interest for me is above all the anonymity, once you remove it you lose a big part of the interest
