you guys are wildly misinformed, i will tell you that as a new york resident, new york has become significantly more dangerous over the past 3 years thanks to some of the BS implemented during covid. new york has turned into a fucking zoo, the odds of you being mugged, assaulted or raped has gone up exponentially in the past three years. Unless the con staff fixed their shit from 2 years ago the Advent panel will be disappointing. The Mth and Council panel in 2021 was delayed by 20 minutes and only lasted 40. lmao I took the subway once because I got up too late, it was a pain in the ass
I'd rather walk 2 miles from a hotel to the con center

At least the Javits got the 7 train, which is the best train line of them all.

The big problem with the MTA is the subway but you don't need to take it to get to the Javitz Center anyway.

I can figure out the MBTA easily, but the NY MTA is a pain in the ass to figure out. I prefer to walk anyway, even if it takes 30-40m. It's not that cold in Manhattan.

brown issues. New York's a good time other than everything being way too fucking expensive

>people on here unironically afraid of the Manhattan subway
>people unironically confused by the subway system
Its always funny to see the big bad, high and mighty 4chan posters afraid of going to a place/doing things that literally everybody and their kid and their grandma can do without thinking or worrying in real life.

I'm not even afraid of the subway. I think i'm just more afraid of the stations and seedy people in general.

I'm not afraid of the manhattan subway but I don't enjoy every single one having someone begging on it in every single car. But there's also no major advantage of taking it over a bus unless you're coming from out of the borough or just really need to get to work on time or something. Penn Station is right there, like 4 blocks away, why the hell would I take local transit? To save money? /Con badges are like $100 for one fucking day.

NYC is a shithole. It went downhill really fast with covid lockdowns. I used to walk home at 1 am without worrying ~5 years ago. Now I won't even drive there.

Down for a vt meetup just not weekend of, don't want to have to herd tourists who can't navigate a city grid lmao

I'll also be there but probably not going to go to any meetups based on the posters in this thread.

nothing to worry about mta if you just keep your nose down, avoid eye contact like everyone else and dress like a normal person.
anon calling it a recent shithole is partially right, just the major tourist areas though. everywhere else has been about the same or improving steadily. Scaffolded areas are the biggest issue usually with piss everywhere and blind corners you need to tread carefully around. be careful of random screws poking out of construction fences that haven't been hammered down yet, lots of contractors are hiring fucking imbeciles lately
