None of Hololive, nay, all vtubers, are actual e-sports material, MAAAAAAAYBE except Suisei for Tetris, but then why would Suisei bother to do that?

I really don't understand what any of these threads are trying to tell me. Vtubers shouldn't/can't be in higher level competition? A woman crying ever is bad so I shouldn't watch them? What are you actually trying to convince me of?

It's cool when Vtubers are good at games but that's never been the reason I started watching one. Doing poorly in a competition in front of a lot of people is painful, frustrating, and makes you feel like you let the team down even if nothing was really expected of you. If you just didn't like her in advance then whatever but if you wanna kick everyone out of the fgc that goes 0-2 then go ahead I guess but that's pretty lame.

LOL if you think Suisei is that good at tetris
She's good, but never close to top players of good.
Botan had more chance on that tourney than Suisei will ever did on Tetris against top players.
Aqua is closest we'll ever get (in Apex) and she has proven in this solo master where her lobby is a master/pred (highest level) lobby, and she gained points consistently.

Anon, her glory days of being a pro gamer has since been long over. She got demolished in her recent Street Fighter 6 tournament that she had a 'Aqua moment' and broke down in tears. I'm a SSRB and I love my hag oshi, but she should really take things easy for now on.

>> No.59259000

>>59258546
What does that mean though? Are you saying she shouldn't compete? You don't think she would do better with practice? You don't want her to try anymore?

>> No.59259837

>>59259000
The fighting game genre has such a small community that you have a higher chance of encountering a pro player and getting demolished compared to any other genre, making it harder to practice against other players since fights are 1v1. That chance encounter skyrockets over time as the game gets old, and casuals start quitting the game. If Botan want to continue to compete in Street Fighter tournaments, then it's only going to get worse for her.

>> No.59260802

>>59259837
Botan is a popular streamer so if she seriously wants to compete she can just network with pros and get them to coach her. sf might seem niche but the streaming community is pretty huge because it's a good esports game

The FGC, and devs, have been riding high lately thinking their genre is going to go mainstream, but frankly it's fucking delusional to think it will. The harsh reality is the FGC's culture, from the top down, heavily discourages newcomers to the genre. Skill levels in the FGC are like weight classes in boxing, and even if you go to a locals, you're just expected to square up and spar against people in Andre the Giant's tier, when you're basically a midget. It's why players drop off so fast, and how SF6 now has less players than even Monster Hunter World. The games demand insane levels of practice, patience, and mental fortitude to get good at, with basically zero reward compared to something like CS:GO's prizepools, and even at locals you're typically playing against people who are leagues better than you and have been playing for at least a decade.

They act like they're super welcoming, but nothing about actually playing them and joining communities around games/events actually is. The onus is all on the newbie to learn, and the only real measure of progress you get is a number going up. The core gameplay loop never changes, you just get better at it and learn more about it, but at the end of the day you're still effectively doing virtual fencing for months to years on end, depending on how much you play, to break past the "local highschool sports" level of skill. It's not like the FGC figureheads even disagree with me, I've heard plenty of people joke about how breaking past that point requires "not touching grass" and they know it's true.

The "community" part is also a fucking joke. I spent nearly a year bringing the best setup, bringing games people requested, bringing spare controllers and going out of my way to try and bring anyone who was less skilled than me up to speed. I got tired of how much the games demanded of me (time and effort), gave up, stopped going to my locals, and not a single one of them even noticed I stopped going, despite regularly talking to me. So the one saving grace of "one of the last bastions of IRL interaction with people sharing your interests" is a fucking lie too

The absolute worst part is that the only thing worth grinding for a new player is fundies because any matchup skill is immediately discarded every 600 or so days when the new hotness rolls out and the old tired game is relegated to the garbage bin. If you start practicing SF6 now you'll be good enough for it to matter by the time SF8 is out.

You sound like an autist who didn't actually want to be there in the first place. People who are good at fighting games play them because they like fighting games. If you dont like practice, being smashed and having to get good you evidently don't actually like fighting games, you like the concept of them. Reminder fighting games were designed to be played in arcades without training mode.

>> No.59289438

>>59280828
Wtf are you even talking about, these skills and concepts learned (how mix, air actions work etc) transfer between games. If you have range in your fighting game experience you can competently play any new fighting game in an hour
