Note that I did remove people with either active or 5 day plus subathons that i am aware of during this stretch in order to get reasonably accurate numbers meaning Anny (1,046 hours), Kirshe (1,281), Kitanya (413), Hina (380), Giri (481), and Yoclesh (371) were all omitted. Lord Aethelstan was not included due to the hybrid nature of his streams however he did break 120 hours per month so props for that. I also removed all ASMR Vtubers who ran re-runs since that skews the results as well. I will be using this standard for this type of post for control reasons.

>The biggest trend worth noting is that the top 25 list with the exception of about 5 vtubers skews heavily vtubers who are believed to be ages 27+, often cases they are ones who had past life job experience and not a traditional background in streaming/content creation. The majority of them are also rising in their viewership and following numbers by an average of 17.1% over 3 months.
>On the other side, the common trend among the sub 65 streamers is that they are either known to be 26 or under or they are long time content creators. With the exception of Camila who is up due to previously mentioned leeching tactics, this group is at a collective -16.8% loss in viewership.

The conclusion seems to be audiences are gravitating towards people with a higher work ethic and more mature outlooks on streaming and leaving the old guard big names that don't stream as much in the dust.

Allow me to alter what I meant by the wording of my conclusion: Age isn't the only explicit thing here. Most of the girls on the bottom list with the exceptions of Milky and Camila are from the golden boom of EN vtubing, that early 2020 window where people blew up. Snuffy, Bao, Juniper, and Vienna were all 25 or under when they blew up. They chose after the boom to chase careers in vtubing and either didn't have the maturity to stick with it the way they should have or burnt out and don't want to admit it. In Tricky's case it is definitely burn out because not only did she have a long career in vtubing at this point but she's been an active youtuber for nearly a decade.

The more I think this over, the more I don't think it's age per se, it's the same problem we see in hololive with some of Myth streaming significantly less and with ex vshojos scaling back their streaming: The vtubers from the golden EN boom that were not mentally prepared for the day in day out grind to treat this like a job are fizzling out. At this same time, we have a generation of people who have spent years as small vtubers getting their exposure and them having forged their careers while working day jobs and living normal lives at the same time has given them a will to grind that these people who got big fast don't have anymore.

that's a fair assessment as well. I want to stress that I don't have any ill feelings for anyone I've talked about and that I do feel bad for cases like Vienna and Snuffy because I know they have some very rocky things that went on for both of them.

Vienna at least feels like a case of someone who just might not have had the right kind of personality for the job, like you said. I think she would have been happier long term with a smaller audience of about 1k or so instead of her time flirting with 3k ccv stressing her the fuck out. Momo was a similar situation: she was big time but eventually pared down her numbers and reached a level where she has a base community she is more or less happy with. I think Vienna needs to do some soul searching to see what she can do to reach that zen without constantly ghosting/cancelling.

In Snuffy's case she was a very regular streamer before she had her bad health scare two years ago, and she been erratic since. In her case, I do want to point out that lately it feels like Snuffy has a big upswing on her content and she has that spark again, and her hours streamed show it: in the last 30 days she's hit 75 hours streamed, which is 20 hours more than where she previously was at. Perhaps her networking and finding fun things to do and explore in VR has really put pep back in her step, but it's noticeable. I'm really pulling for both her and Bao (who is also clearly making an effort at the moment to improve) to get back to where we know they can be.

Again, I don't want to seem like I'm shitting on liggers, I want all our girls to do what they need to be successful. Sometimes that success requires self evaluation, re-dedication, or readjustment of what you are doing.

That actually wasn't an intentional omission on my part. I just brain holed it. Remembered I do these manually so they are inexact. To your point, Filian did 205 hours streaming which puts her at around 60 hours per month which would put her in the under 65 hours per month list.

Also double checking my own work here, I should have included Vei in the bottom list as well (51.3). I don't think I need to keep beating that dead horse, we all know what happened with her at this point.

It's worth mentioning that Filian is a bit of an exception to the rule when it comes to hours streamed: Because a lot of her time and effort is focused on Tik Tok/youtube shorts, she's able to scale back on the amount that you need to stream at her size to maintain the audience and she's very good at attempting to have something that feels like you have to watch it a few times a week. Fil is a very clever girl when it comes to marketing herself and perhaps some of the bigger name vtubers with lagging viewership should consider taking some cues from her on that front.

i think streaming consistently is more important than streaming for long hours but having a sporadic schedule. filian always streams on the same days at the same time, her streams have a consistent format of 1 hour hanging out with chat and then 2-3 hours of the main event. I don't think it's feasible to run a longer than 4-hour stream at her energy levels. when she does subathons/very long streams they are always parsed into 1-2 hours of high-energy stuff followed by a few hours of "rest" period like some desktop gaming or video watching. also if she does sponsors it's always extra time and never replaces the regular stream.

Are there hackers in CS:GO? Well yeah to both. But most blaming is still complete horsecrap that comes from a chronic unwillingness to look at the whole picture.

Twitch is going to primarily suggest you streams you already follow and that belong to the circles you already watch and streams that have a lot of views. The reality is that the UI impacts discoverability almost as much as the algorithm. And funny thing is, the UI impacts what videos or streams you're going to watch by a hell of a lot. The Youtube UI is organized in a way where the algorithm decides what videos you're going to watch.
Youtube is actually great at telling you this outright if you dig for their instructions. You see your video, would you click on it? Would you watch it afterwards? Youtube UI doesn't favor finding livestreams unless you were already searching for them. It does, however, favor finding a Youtube video you like and then following a link to a Twitch channel.

But yeah, TL;DR, creators need to think less algo and more UI on the site they use. They are connected, but UI is king, algorithm is just their court.
