A lot of the more popular girls have readily apparent gimmicks you can catch on to within minutes of tuning into a stream. Roboco honestly seems very plain if you haven't tuned into her before. At first glance she can come across as "just another vtuber". I say this as someone who thinks of her as my third favourite vtuber. You need to watch her consistently to know that she:

as much disdain as clippers and clipfags get, they are the best predictor of success for a chuuba. If a chuuba gets clipped often, they'll generally succeed. This works great for people who have a lot of moments that work well in clips (Pekora, Marine, Doog, Coco) but not so much for those whose content is more longform, and doesn't translate as well into a clip (Aki, Robocco, Sora, Mel)

Ayame is an exception because of how much exposure she gets through Holo Alt, and because her mannerisms tend to work pretty well in clips, even if she isn't especially high energy. Ina is an exception because HoloEN built different.

I think she's probably in the top 4. Risu's the best for range and annunciation/pronunciation across languages.

But Roboco's strength is the creativity in certain covers. Her non-lyric vocals in King fit perfectly. It's just a style of flavor that's really, really good.

Watame's also really good, has great songwriting capability.

Kanata's also extremely strong, but probably tied with or just around Sora. Her big issue is pronunciation (left side light side). Once that's down she's probably top 2 or 3.

Roboco is the most realistic GFE in all of hololive, you really cannot prove me wrong here. Rushia, Flare etc are all played up to hell and back. Roboco has 3 curses:
- Early/noGen curse so nobody paid special attention to her like Gen 3 onwards
- Nice and seiso, so no scandalous videos to attract retards
- Actually is polite and "classic" with her audience, so instead of pleasing a crowd of Ms, she pleases a group of decent people

She doesn't seem overly concerned with numbers, or at least doesn't show it. She does do a lot of celebration streams, she clearly loves and appreciates her viewers
She's gotten a bit of a boost recently, but it's hard to tell where exactly it came from.
She really seems to be enjoying streaming a lot more lately and she's always having a good time.
She loves doing her karaoke streams and hosting collabs like Uno a lot, which she's pretty great at.
Her chat is actually usable for regular streams for the most part too, she gets a few new members nearly every stream and she's usually able to read all of her SCs at the end.
No trolls or bad actors, besides the odd spam/scam bots that plague just about every YT live chat.
Boxi is a great live TL, Moderators are pretty active.
The greys she gets in chat aren't really that annoying. They'll ask for "ara ara" or "hi honey" but it's not the worst.
As a Robosa I do wish she got a bit more love and was more popular, though she does seem really happy with where she's currently at.
But that could come at the loss of a usable live chat, which would suck.

unironically very interesting questions,

i feel that Lamy in special has been getting a lot of funny moments recently, like the Nene VS Lamy about shaving, or the Noel cow, she definitely changed the character she had when debutted.

Mio is mid-tier in terms of views iirc, she also has a few moments, so i feel it's ok?

Polka is another mystery, IMO she has one of the best characters, personality wise, and has some clippable moments, no idea why she stays in the low-mid tier in views/subs

What separates them has to do with actual total watched hours on the VOD's. Information that most numberfags don't have access to. Clips can help promote them but it's the viewers who stay to watch every streamed Vod and member up that matters. Sub numbers and superchats are meaningless due to varying factors such as dead subs and the type of content they like to do.

Example, you say Polka is doing poorly relative to her gen when in fact she is on par with Botan with the metrics that actually matter. Such as total VOD views and total hours watched. Which are the only metrics that advertisers actually care about. People on /vt/ may think that Polka is doing terrible compared to the rest of the gen but these numbers are meaningless without context. People point out that Polka has low SC numbers. But unlike the rest of the gen, Polka actually discourages people from giving her SCs. Viewers asked her to do SCs reads at the end of streams like the others do but she just refuses to do it as she is not in it for the money. Polka's roommate explained a long time ago that the money she makes from streaming is peanuts compared with her income outside of hololive. Polka's live views may seem low but, the reason is due to her never having a posted schedule so half of her fans will never be able to watch her streams since you can't plan for it. She will only notify at best 2 to 3 hours ahead of time with notice as short as 5 minuets. On top of that she has a huge EN following much more so than the others in her gen so the time zone difference will always filter out many people from live views.

Basically you can't really measure a holo's success just based on metrics like live views, subs, or SC's. To do so underlines your lack of business acumen of how the big money is actually made. We may have fun shit posting with the low hanging fruit that are the easy to see numbers but they are not the numbers a real streamer cares about.

Thank you for explaining. I'm not an Omaruza, so it's always confused me as to why Polka dropped into low tier live views despite having high tier traits. How else should a 3rd party objectively measure measure a chuuba's success? Live views and SC seem like a very fair metric to me. Where are you getting the total hours watched info from? With such a large clipping culture, I would guesstimate VOD's contribute very little, with only the most dedicated few hundreds watching full VOD's.

Or at least that's what was said in her roommates interviews. Things may have changed a bit but we can assume that the relative ratios for the big numbers should have stayed about the same , baring changes to streaming schedules due to irl issues for the streamer. It illustrates how little we know about what the real numbers that matter are. Keep in mind total watched hours are more important for advertisers as more hours watched means more chance to deliver adds.

For instance we can see that despite the overwhelming success of EN, Pekora puts even Gura to shame in terms of the overall time she can hold eyeballs glued to a screen. Another thing to note is that Mori despite being the 2nd highest subbed EN at the time, having the most SCs of all EN, and only off of Gura subs by two to three hundred thousand subs, is actually the worst performing EN even behind Kiara. Tells you something about how reliable sub numbers are in regards to being able to used as a measuring stick for success.

For the metrics that matter, we just don't have any real solid information to go on. You either have to work for or pay a research firm that does this stuff to get the meta data for these metrics. While you can use subs and SC's as a metric, just know that they mean nothing without the more curtail metrics such as watch time, membership growth/retantion, and revenue from non YT activities such as concerts/promos.
