Why do the sisters come up with such outlandish copes so often? You don't "forget" two of your top talents are threatening graduation, not when everyone keeps asking about them at that. The prevailing theory with the most weight is this.
>Stars JP start getting cheaper, standardized merch
>Astel SAS something about needing to get a certain number of subs, possibly linking the two
>People notice that isn't the case for EN, they get normal merch
>Theorize they'll get a one year cycle of good merch then move to standardized next year since it would be unfair otherwise
>Vesper and Magni are already bitchy about everything (roommate sources)
>See new contracts

Anon you might misunderstand. I don't mean during the hiatus, but late enough that the hiatus was even necessary in the first place. I'm posting under the assumption that they couldn't hold graduation streams BECAUSE the contracts had ran out by then, so they legally couldn't.
Sana announced her exit, did her goodbye tour & graduated a month before her 1st anniversary. Magni & Vesper disappeared without warning a mere 2 weeks before theirs. That's a noticeable discrepancy. Either they only showed them the contracts in July, didn't expect to be told "ehhhhh maybe not", and panicked. Or they showed them months before, were told "ehhhhh maybe not" and... just left it at that until July anyway? Fucking why? You get a signature or a handshake and you prepare accordingly. Why GIVE them the leverage by letting them stream like everything's fine? "Not resigning? K, your graduation stream's July 11th. Announce it yourself or we will. Best of luck."

I'm sure the two of them had issues that were directly at odds with how a vtuber corpo is operated and therefore impossible to solve via negotiation. You can't negotiate perms away, you can't negotiate for the ability to say whatever with no filter, you can't negotiate meetings and other timewasters away (maybe reduce them at most), etc.
The surprising thing is how sudden it was, and how they both got stuff with their model shortly before leaving. There must have been some enormous incompetence at work to just not see this coming at all and invest in these two without even knowing whether contract renewal was guaranteed or not.

If anything I think it's more plausible they start before debut, hence Sana's graduation happening weeks before her anniversary. That'd also, y'know, lock the chuuba IN for an anniversary celebration and any preparation that entails. Which makes it all the more baffling to me that this wasn't settled LONG before the 11&1/2th hour.
