And they do it because none of them can draw an audience on sheer talent alone. None of them are such amazing performers that everyone is paying attention to them and wondering what they do next. They do it because pulling on strings for emotional ploys improves their otherwise mid performance in the eyes of some of the audience. If the audience didn't behave that way or if they had genuine talent nobody could ignore then they would stop doing it.

When most people are jealous, whether men or women, they tend to either act passive aggressive or directly aggressive. Not in a cute way either, but in a way that you really don't want to deal with. So the question is based on a false premise. They're not actually acting as if they're jealous, they're playing along with tropes of an unrealistic depiction of jealousy. So, the question of whether or not it is real just underlines how far gone some of the fans are. By the very nature and execution of the trope, it is necessarily not real jealousy, hence they are not really jealous, or if they are jealous then they're actually hiding it.

It's definitely real for some, but just because one jokes about it doesn't mean they're serious. You sort of have to judge based on their behavior over time, and also ideally not be autistic to figure out which ones actually mean it when they say it. For most people who post here the latter is impossible and they do the autistic thing of assuming its true either 0% of the time or 100% of the time.

I've seen it happen with streamers and regulars who don't even donate pretty often. Obviously it happens more often for ones with lower CCV, but even some 4 and 5 views have done it too(rarely). That's including non-Hololive 4 views.
As a rule the ones I've seen do it are the ones who are more "open" with their fans with personal details and emotionally, so my assumption is that it somehow stings to see someone you were like that with watching another person because it feels like your emotions are being commodified. Remember the saying about not to mix business and pleasure?

I doubt that but I don't doubt you still believe it anyway. I've seen streamers grumbling about people not subbing too, but that's not the same. It's not the same as getting the silent treatment for days and only being told "you know what you did" or something, or other stuff that would make their stream implode. It's also not the same as being unhinged and screaming, and throwing shit, and stalking viewers and posting and doxxing stuff asking them to explain themselves. But like I said, I have no doubt that you feel you know what that kind of jealousy is really like and it's just like a whiny but harmless anime girl that still pays mind to make her content engaging.

Yes it's possible, not only do they sometimes get mad you're not giving them your money and giving it to a competitor, many of them are also massive attention seekers and want the spotlight to be on them all the time. Talking about other VTubers in the chat is against the rules for a reason. Some of them might also feel insecure, like if they were entertaining enough then you wouldn't need to watch anyone else. And obviously sometimes it's just acting cute, but even then they might still be jealous and just trying not to show it. Often it's also a deliberate act to try and retain viewers.

Depends on the streamer, naturally. And even when it's somewhat true, it's not like it's for an individual. It'ss more just a general insecurity that you're being compared to somebody else. It can make people feel sad. They won't admit it, but a lot of these girls are at least a little bit parasocial in the sense that they want to be your favorite.

Woozie Wannai (retired recently) - She was an avid Vtuber watcher, Maintained a audience of 25-50 ccv. once she went from chatter to chatter (who volunteered) and listed off exactly who she had seen in the chat of other vtubers. She was kind of a Tomboy "I'm one of you bros!" type but could get pretty possessive
- 4chan's own Kiki Pyon-pyon who caught some viewers in others chats and had a full fucking menhera breakdown about it and cancelled stream.
