Have you ever given up? Moved on? Lost faith? Lost interest? Have you ever swapped Oshis or dropped a vtuber? If so, who and why? I'm curious what makes someone drop someone they've been following for a decently long time.

Yeah Kronii. Her terrible attitude and laziness when I was busting my ass off in a third rate job during the day pissed me off. After the 100th time she was late with her stream, had 2 stream weeks, and unannounced breaks, I knew I could do better than spend my valuable free time supporting someone who actually tries.

Didn't want to include this in the main post because it'd defer from the main point of the thread, but Kiara's announcement today for her album got me pretty pissed. People've talked about Mori's attempts to just use Hololive and to defer shit to her RM and Kiara's statement on why she chose the album cover reeks of shame of being an anime girl streamer. She had some stuff in the past with her music where she got upset about Kanauru putting in Hololive references in her MVs, which is fine because it's still her, Takanashi Kiara, on display for the music video.
Attempting, to quote her, 'to appeal to the normies' by avoiding what is the face of her brand, her anime avatar, is just shitty to me. It's spitting in the face of the fact that everyone found and enjoyed her BECAUSE of what she's created in Hololive. It just feels bad, because I know she's grateful for the chance to be here and do idol things, but this just feels so against that sentiment.

I lost faith in my oshi, Mori, but it's not fair to say I moved on. I still think about her most days, hope she's doing well, but it wasn't healthy the way I was watching.
Simultaneously too parasocial and too frustrated by what she was doing and who she chose to defend. It really seemed like she was determined to destroy herself, and I was powerless to stop it, to say anything to change her mind. The stubborn streak I admire turned into something I loved and something I hated.
It's fucked up, the feelings these vtubers can make you feel, but it's been a couple years and I think i'm enjoying them more responsibly now. Mostly watch small to medium indies and a couple of smaller corpos.

>> No.57264247

Not dropping my oshi anytime soon but- Shiori was a contender to be my second favourite hololive girl, but honestly, her going on break so early on killed all the excitement I had for her streams, feel no motivation to watch them anymore. Nerissa was also someone who I thought I would really enjoy watching, but her thirsting over Kiara is getting to be too much (I say this having Kiara as my oshi...)

>> No.57264544

>>57262791
Mine is Ame too, but I dropped her well before the Tempus shit. At first, I found her bitchiness and Ameway stuff funny, but over time it became less entertaining and more annoying, especially once she became way more obvious with how much she unironically hated her fans. The last straw was a Christmas collab stream where she had the other girls way too quiet, and when chat told her about it, she screamed at chat and called them liars, then turned the volume up way too high and left it like that. Left the stream, haven't watched a minute of her since, but I was barely watching her by that point anyway.

>> No.57264854

>>57263442
Are you really a Kiara fan if you think she's ashamed of anime??? She just wants new people to give her music a chance. It's undeniable that a lot of people are less likely to give a song a chance if the album cover is plastered with anime girls. AZKi has done the exact same thing.

You are reading into this way too much. My only complaint with the album cover is that it looks like it was made in five minutes using some default assets on photoshop.

Went to Kronii because her model gave me a raging boner and her personality was so me fr, but she absolutely dropped the ball with her work ethic. Became a lot more careful picking oshis afterward.
Moved to Pomu and I still love her, but I dropped her because I can no longer give even a single datapoint to an absolute nigger of a company.

I dropped Rosemi for Pomu. Because sometime early last year Rosemi stopped wage slaving and with it seems her enthusiasm for streaming and making creative content left.
Her unique autistic humor got replaced with the typical Niji Family meme-forcing. She stopped doing zatsudan only streams and spent less time with us after finishing a game. She replaced her cute seagull laugh with this really forced cute girl laugh. It seems her focus shifted from content to being a part of the Niji EN family, and what sent me over the edge was a celebration stream she herself ruined to hang out with Luca in VR. It feels like she went from this cute autist to a failed normalfag girl nowadays.
I still consider Pomu the best EN streamer, but my true oshi is Marine. I did my reps and see found that JPs are really a lot better at chatting, Marine especially.

I'll be honest, I came very close to dropping peko after that weird hypnosis thingy. She's been my one and only oshi since I found chuubas (I was pretty good at jp even before chuubas were a thing). Never really had what could be called an "oshi" but I had a number of vTubers I stopped watching because of yabs, going on breaks, or both.

Amelia was the first, I got sick of her constantly lashing out at her chat and she stopped being fun to watch. I watched Ina for a very long time, but a combination of meltdowns from her combined with that long hiatus she took a few months ago broke me of the habit of watching her, and her content seemed less interesting when she came back, so I dropped her. I used to watch Gura but then Gura stopped streaming too.

I went into Council interested in Kronii and Sana, but Sana and Kronii both quickly slowed way down on streaming and then the meltdowns started.

I had been sort of out of Hololive for the last several months and mostly just watched JP clips. To the extent I watched EN at all, it was just the occasional Bae or Fauna stream. Advent, particularly Bijou and Fuwamoco, brought me back. I'm cautiously hopeful this crew, or at least Bijou and Fuwamoco, will prove more stable and less disaster prone than EN1-2.

Less Faithful Tako - I haven't dropped Ina but I'll admit that the twin doggos took me away. Guess you could say Fuwamoco are my kamioshi atm. No. I can't think of many things that would make me drop Kanata other than a lack of interest in vtubers entirely.

The key to picking a good oshi is finding one who's hardworking and not "picking" someone off of a debut. Wait untill they have actually streamed a bit and shown their personality, so you can see if they actually allign with your tastes. I wanted one who actually likes and appreciates her fans, is great at music, has sufferkino, feels genuine, and most importantly has a lot of determination and real passion for being an idol/singer/performer. Kanata has everything I want in a vtuber even if she isn't perfect (nobody is) like her being menhera and being the most unlucky vtuber ever that suffers the most. Just Kanata.

Probably refering to that one time she got super tilted whille playing Guilty Gear and she responded to the people in the chat who were bantering her by calling them loser nerds or something to that effect.
She apologized after the fact and tried to explain it was sort of an attempt at a self-deprecation thing but some people never got over the feeling that she was venting her real thoughts over her fanbase.
Im not a fan of Ina but personally I think its a nothingburger; people say dumb shit when they are angry at videogames all the time and she apologized, which is more than what the other HoloENs are willing to do after they are mean to their fans.

Plenty of rappers write lyrics about a multitude of things, the pop rap that plays on the radio is all about money and haters but that’s because it’s mindless and people can listen to it while they’re on their phones driving.

Mori writes her lyrics super quickly so they are usually centered on whatever’s been running through her mind lately. Usually her haters and other things that have been bugging her. Which is why so many of her songs are so literal and biographical, it’s almost like a look into her stream of consciousness. It’s also why her songs typically lack complex rhyme schemes, metaphors or underlying themes.

There’s been things that have upset me too, but I’m glad none ended up being dealbreakers. I was particularly upset over her alcoholic arc and how yes-men were going YASS QUEEN 1 WHISKEY EVERY MORNING, and how she seemed all for it. But she genuinely loves us as an audience. Nowadays she yabs far less, and is still the headstrong personality I fell in love with. People meme ‘improve yourself’, but she’s been actively doing exactly that, from diets, to sleep schedule fixing, to a focus on Hololive over any RM stuff at all.

Pekora.
I don't know, she kind of lost me when she started doing more idol-y stuff. Yeah, I know, I'm retarded, but there was something about when she did idol stuff before, like in Bloom when she did Randombrain, where her performance radiated with her own PASSION and SOUL, even if it was flimsy at times, it still felt like HER. The new choreo now is rehearsed basic-ass idol step that leans more on a 'kawaii' side she never really had, and that's when she started to lose me. Her stream ideas, especially in minecraft, stopped getting wilder as she slowly lost passion for being creative in games. yeah the irl stuff was fun, but there's too little of that to keep me on. the deal was sealed when nousagi /here/ and on discord started whining about her constant losing in Rust, so i didn't even have an attachment to the community anymore. i still watch her from time to time, im just not so invested anymore.
right now i feel right at home with mito and salome. salome's stopped upping the ante on her casual streams, but she's still a wild ride, and that 3D stream was kino as fuck.

This is just wrong. rap covers an wide range of emotional beats. Just the recent spiderverse movie had some really good tracks that tended towards positive themes. I'd give those a listen if you haven't seen the movie, particularly Hummingbird and Mona Lisa. Even Mori herself has CROWNS with Boogie Vox that was very much a "thank you" track much like Live Again.
If you want to go off the deep end, half of Lil B's discography is positive shit.

I refuse to use the term oshi or any of those other cringy names, even when it comes to sports teams or band fan names. I'm a person, not part of a collective...which sounds just as cringy, I suppose.
My little sister was into Kizuna Ai and would watch her around me, but I never became a huge fan. Then she got into Ame and the other Hololive girls before leaving for college. I fell down the rabbit hole when I came across Sara Nagare on Twitter, really liked her design, and checked a few of her videos. I really liked her voice, so I subbed to her on YouTube and check in occasionally on her streams. The fact she's not popular helps since she responds to my inquiries.
In Hololive, I like a few of them, but Fauna's my favorite due to her ASMR proficiency...though I wish she'd do one using her "normal" Fauna voice instead of raising her pitch to sound more cutesy.

Then the bad times came and she became super preachy where she ranted at chat multiple times because she got one guy-ed, and then went on a 3 month hiatus and still had a stick up her ass when she returned. Decided to start looking at some of the other girls. Remembered Council existed, liked Bae cause of her design, but her voice threw me off. Checked out Kronii for the same reason, left cause I was bored. Mumei was fine but at the time she wasn't streaming as much I think. Could tell Sana was vapid and had zero personality from the get go so she was ignored. Thought Council held nothing of interest for me. Until I realized I forgot someone. There was that green haired girl wasn't there? Pfft, if I forgot about her surely she couldn't be worth my time right? I gave her a courtesy watch. Found myself smirking as I was watching her. I guess my first Oshi was Pipkin Pippa. I still find her funny and she has an infectious passion for Vtubers and Vtubing that she passed on to me, so she’ll always have a special place in my heart. I wouldn't call me abandoning or swapping Oshi's, but Kiara's hold on me has been waning over the last year. I used to obsessively follow everything, watch every stream, listen to all the tangents, etc. but now find myself not wanting to tune in for games I find boring or uninteresting.
I've sat through countless hours of JRPGs that she likes, but something about FE Engage really broke me out of feeling dedicated to watching every stream and never missing a tangent. Her regular formula of 1 hour's worth of tangents spread between 4 hours of gameplay and an hour of reacting to the story/cutscenes suddenly doesn't seem worth the time when those 4 hours were some of the worst slogs of nothing where she was focused hard on the game and the usual ignorance of mechanics lead to deaths rather than some goofy shit happening like you'd get with Yakuza or GTA.
So for like 4-5 months I got sparce Wawa because she spent a majority of her week playing that shit game and coupled with her doing a lot of stuff for FES, 3D, and personal projects, I suddenly found myself with a lot more time to watch vtubers play games I actually liked. Not sure if I'll ever go back to watching shit I don't like just for Wawa, and I'm not abandoning her or anything, but it just feels weird considering I spent a lot of my freetime in the last 2 and a half years consuming so much of her content.

I don't know where this preconceived notion of having multiple oshis is a bad thing. Support who you support and if that particular oshi does nothing for you, do yourself a major favor and move the fuck on to someone that does. Don't ever feel bad for your preferences changing or that content you once loved just isnt what it is anymore. This is a business at the end of the day.

Retards who don’t understand the meaning of oshi and use it as a replacement for "waifu" instead or something. Even though having multiple waifus is also fine.

If you’re member, throwing SCs or watching more than twice a week someone, then you got an oshi. It’s that simple. If you just open a random stream and never watch the same streamer twice then you’re a DD. Pretty much everyone has something like 3 or 4 oshis. It’s the opposite, having only one oshi would be weird, do you even like hololive if you only watch one girl?

I've had "oshis" where I didn't so much quit them as I just slowly lost interest over time. I still love Korone but I don't watch her anymore. Coco was probably the first I would call an oshi but of course, she had to be sacrificed to save Cover from the hellhole that is China (thank you Coco). I tried being a Yukimin but it's so hard to deal with zatsudan JPs like Lamy when you're a dirty EOP. My two go-tos nowadays are Marine and Noel, and Marine in particular takes a lot for me to keep up with.
I had a Nijisanji phase when Lazusydia showed up. I don't really watch Selen or Elira anymore because I can't stand the organization. How it's run, how incestuous everyone's streams are, the "Niji family" memes and the Kurosanji information that's leaked out over the years. I still like Pomu but I might end up giving up on her too... I only have so much time in the day and I don't think she's ever going to leave until she's forced to.
I found Council very boring when they first debuted. Stiff as cardboard, barely any synergy, Fauna in particular felt like Ina except even more boring and with a very fake voice. Move forward to when I started drifting from Niji EN and Fauna quickly became my favorite of all time. First I could call a kamioshi. She's like if Northern Lion were a cute anime girl who wasn't dogshit at video games. Just a very entertaining streamer and a lovely person.
Anyway, thanks for reading my blog.

Ame couldn't have been more wrong about these guys. She's a self-described bootlicker so there's a chance she regrets backing people who caused a fuss and wouldn't stick out longer for more than a year. Delayed their gen's first anniversary.. yeah, in that sense, I could see Ame thinking low of them and having regrets, but none concerning the fans she alienated. Whatever the case, nothing would be admitted by her, but the end of it all speaks for itself. Hasn't even mentioned their graduations.
