My theory is that the interactive parts, like dialog choices etc., help keeping her engaged.
In other games like most JRPGs or Yakuza etc., they do loredumps in cutscenes where you're basically forced to watch a movie of some dudes just standing around talking about boring stuff for a dozen minutes or more. That's the parts where she zones out and the games are losing her.
Here, basically every 2-3 sentences you get to make a choice, which helps keep your attention and reinforces your personal investment in the narrative. Plus the rest of the gameplay is also decent at having very little downtime, there's always something to do and lots of ways to do it.

Don't misunderstand, I'm not saying it's the best game ever or anything in general, just explaining what aspects of it keep her more engaged than she usually would be if you remember Kiara's other behavior in long dense RPGs.

Ok, so what do you think, CAN Kiara clear stage 3&4?

She doesn't have much in the way of upgrades, but I know from experience it's perfectly doable to clear the later stages with little to no setup, if you just have some basic game sense (ok, strike one against her) and pick the right characters, no crazy experimentations, just pick the ones you already know and are comfortable with (so yeah, strike two if she tries to go at it with some random new character she just gacha'd, for novelty's sake). For a simple first-clear run of the harder stages just go for some solid tanky characters with good self sustainment (ironically, Kiara's own character is pretty decent in that regard), level up crowd-control type weapons and defense/heal buff items. Then all you have to do is just kite the enemies smartly, bob and weave, and don't do stupid shit like standing in place or running into them. EZ

I'm not expecting much, and I hope she's not too frustrated if she doesn't pull it of. But if she does, I'll apologize and KNEEL to the GAMER of EN.
