- the micomet orisong was good (most holo orisong s are shit)
- there were many good moments in day 1 & 2, Luna part was kino despite she’s not a good singer

The only thing I'll say about the concerts is that I wish there were more clarity as to who was getting what. I know a lot of JPs only got one performance across 2 days for one, but as an EN fan I feel kind of disappointed for paying customers for day 2 who had the idea/expectation that council was going to get a performance of some kind and ended up with Kronii/Fauna getting 4 lines and that was it. It feels like some people kind of got jipped because no one could realistically know what performances are coming up.

On the flip side, I've seen people complain about those with too much screentime, e.g. Miko with 3 performances and 2 MC segments on day 1 where Sora didn't even get a performance besides the intro. It seems like the setlist was all over the place for this summer

I write a column for the internet. If I want to write about obvious things, I would just asked ChatGPT to write them in the deluge of obvious posts that are littering the internet.

I am not interested in success of Hololive, because it is obvious. Hololive will likely do the right thing rather than not. Hololive will always look out for the fans like the fabled idol company they are, because they learned enough. And the right thing that Hololive does will likely not be done by other company because they don't have to privilege of... being Hololive, I guess.

Nijisanji is not Hololive. They will never be and they never should be. But that makes things hard, because we don't know if Nijisanji has a correct answer. It's an unsolved problem. People like Brave and English Sisters walk along similar lines. Some try to be Hololive (Production Kawaii comes to mind) and fail, simply because they try to be Hololive but they are not big enough. Some have slightly different ideas and I am always interested in looking at their attempts.

To put an odd twist, Hololive is like John Cena. I like John Cena. I like the fact that John Cena was born on the exact same day as John Oliver, therefore adding to the burden of misery on the British Parrot Man. I think he is a superb comedic actor and a generally a nice and reasonable man, beside the whole loving China thing, even though I suspect he has his hands tied on that one.

But John Cena's Reign in WWE turned people off and would have turned me off the way current spate of Superhero Movies turns people off. I am simply a too much of a failure to relate to Hololive in any meaningful way. Hololive is the popular one, they are the one who gets straight A's. They are the one who messes things up but always fixes them like Sakamoto, but you know, in a less funny way, I guess. I simply have lost all connection to Hololive as an IP.

Hence my focus on failure of a son like Nijisanji. They remind of me of me. They remind of the fact that I am without friends, without a real career, without real plans other than possibly dying because people realize how selfish and useless I am. (I should mention that someone DM the Reddit Crisis Center thing and this paragraph would make someone else send that DM and I will tell you in advance that I blocked the message because I thought it was concern trolling. Let me quote Cory Doctorow on this - I don't need therapy because writing is my therapy.)

When Nijisanji fails, they fail hard, they rarely make up for the failure. They just... simply roll enough of the dice that failure kind of fades in the spotlight. But I remember. Other companies fail harder to the point they kind of disappear all together. Hololive is the Sun, it's the glaring success that blots out all the failures in the sky. But the failures are where the answers are. It's the reason we send out probes and ridiculously over-engineered machines into the deep reaches of space, because it takes effort to report on the failures. So that we can learn.

And lastly, I know I shouldn't care about people who will laugh if I committed suicide. (Again, read the parenthetical two paragraphs up) But somehow it's one of the harder things to do on the internet... don't know why. Could be the hell that is social media or perhaps my mind thinking everyone will laugh and that if I don't care about them, I will cease to care about anyone and I don't think I'll be like Suisei if I become a psychopath.

Real lastly... um, I realized that I can be quite a Debbie Downer and I think I have Debbie Downer-ed hard in the last few paragraphs. I mean we are getting a free concert for everyone and here I am writing about my depression and suicidal thoughts. You know what, I probably should go to therapy. I know I am using my lack of health insurance to dwell in the abyss.

I feel like this was a sacrifice to the "idol tradition" that could be thrown away for far greater results if they wanted to.
Instead of putting ALL of the units in the stage setting, they could've been setting up area-specific events and eye-catches, and putting different groups in different parts of the setting to make the concert more visually catching, while still deferring to the concert stage for people who want that.
