Here is a silly HYPOTHETICAL example: imagine they’re assigning sequential numbers for each logged in customer.
That means the server assigning the next number will become the chokepoint as regardless of the fact they have 300 servers to serve 1080p 60fps video, everybody trying to login will have the go through that one authentication server.
That’s an hypothetical example, but one I saw way too many times while consulting for middle companies trying to expand

tl;dr: they can unironically download more RAM but if there is a chokepoint in their pipeline their capacity is only as big as that one point

All the compute in the world doesn't make a squat of difference if there's a single master database or some other chokepoint involved. All the errors I got were on the login side, and the stream worked fine once I got passed that. It's almost certainly an issue with making new user sessions. That's expensive to scale, but not impossible. But you can't do that shit in an hour, or even a day.
Unironically, they would have been better off letting anybody in and prompting for a ticket confirm code or something.
