Has anyone seen an image or something of the unlockable palettes? I don't mind the online match and arcade mode unlocks (though I just think palettes should be available in the first place), but I dislike the frontier having one locked to it too. Basically I want to know what it looks like before going through the trouble. One day I will feel like going through it for some characters. The reason streamers dont like fighting games is because they keep losing - advantages to beginners should be default.

Street fighter handicap mode is actually locked to offline when it should be their main selling point: the game should ask you to rate yourself and then gives you advantages in lobbies if you are a beginner,

Also you cant impress cute girls with combos if you do it to them. Some chuubas want to be sandbagged specially if they learned the game that very same day

Ok the “rate your skill level” is a terrible idea, because there will be douchebags who rate themselves low just to get satisfaction beating up people who aren’t comparable. You see this in rivals where the people in bronze are inexplicably more skilled than those in silver because they’re smurfing on purpose. Best you can do is matchmake by the closest elo possible so you don’t end up with too big of a skill mismatch

Also this is less of a problem in smash style games because they’re less technical

please think of it in the perspective of a streamer,they shouldnt have to do "anything", the game should automatically adjust to their necessities. Something like this

So a streamer wants to abuse this? fine! It's their stream! If they have fun beating their viewers they will stream it again, and if their viewers do not well thats their problem.

No rankeds? the streamers get bonuses then based on the time you have been playing. 1000 hours and you still suck? you deserve to be humiliated on stream anyway.

I will say that buffs are kinda hard on platform fighters because scaling up hitstun or damage or launch velocity FUCKS things up like you wouldn’t believe. It’s actually harder to get certain combos if your lv is too high on certain moves.
Basically the only thing you could do is set up a stock deficit or a percentage handicap (which doesn’t do a ton)

Another mode I would try to design would be "teaching mode". The teacher (viewer) gets debuffs. An important hit that leads to a big high damage combo normally now does a tiny amount of the original damage. Certain cheese loops similarly scale down fast. Had a thought on how to actually make this work, the teacher side should be able to set certain goals for the student to clear, in the vein of what's usually done for tutorial modes. Stuff like "break out of throw 3 times" or "punish 5 times". That makes it more intuitive for the student to figure out what the teacher is trying to teach over trying to notice what move they're spamming. This can cover whatever stream integration thing you'd want to try and include as well, since it is plenty engaging for the audience to be able to set challenges for the streamer to clear (separate from the ones the teacher is giving) and rewarding for everyone if they do manage to clear it

I tried something with my code and refactored everything to use the orchestrator pattern (instead of relying on built in gamemaker object execution sequencing to play nicely with complicated interactions), and to my absolute shock it just *works*, and it works so much better then what I had before.
