Actually retarded, it is embarrassing that Japan for one of the most advanced first world countries has this terrible level of English knowledge. They are so confined in their system of Katakana and too lazy to learn it from the ground up that somehow the majority of Japan can’t speak English in the fucking 2020s. Even countries that have languages that are similarly different from English have absolutely no problem learning a basic level of English to hold conversations but Japan is so far behind. It wouldn’t be that noteworthy if Japan wasn’t the third biggest economy and among the most important first world nations in general. There is no excuse that their school system hasn’t figured out a reliable way for their population to actually learn the one language that is important for international relations.

A vast majority of Japanese Gura fans don't actually enjoy Gura's content, they just like her character design because it's cute and marketable as fuck which is a very, very big thing in Japan and is the reason why Hello Kitty is the second highest revenue generating franchise in human history just behind Pokemon.

She doesn't need to learn Japanese to have her posters plastered all over Japan or for them to buy her figures. She most likely realized this after seeing the breakdown of her revenue and no longer cares enough to put in the time required to learn a second language. English is quickly becoming the global standard. The Yen is collapsing, the Japanese population is dying and their culture is slowly bleeding out. The country likely won't collapse soon enough for learning English to be all that relevant to any of the current talents considering most are making a sizable sum of money which they could easily retire with if they're smart about it but this little bubble isn't going to last forever.
