Their fanbase has completely become /NijiJP/ tier, absolutely separate from each other and wanting nothing to do with other people no matter if they're in the same branch or not.
The "family" ideal that Elira desperately wanted to cultivate in NijiEN is fucking dead.
No matter how much they collab with each other, or how much they either show or hide their supposed "friendship" on stream or off stream, the Niji fanbase will never EVER like another liver just because their oshi is friendly with them.

This is the type of mentality that causes JP nijifans to start harassment campaigns - when their oshi starts collabing too much with someone they don't like.
NijiEN fanbase is finally getting close to the level of toxicity as that of the NijiJP fanbase, although it's still far from actionable yet.

There's no real process by which new livers are "welcomed" into "greater nijisanji". Their senpai often don't even know about their existence, and even some of their own branch members might not really click with them much either, thanks to there being zero management involvement in PR shit or workplace culture codes.
Naturally, fanbase follows the liver, and if your oshi doesn't care about the new recruits, why would you?

The thing about JP is that they have VERY strong collab groups.
SKBgumi, SMC, Chronoir, Crossick, Sanbaka, Dokuzuhonsha, ROFMAO etc. almost all of them developed naturally and have a strong theming and affinity with each other.
So fans with flock around these particular groups and become fans of the "group" in particular because their content becomes familiar and known to them - therefore safe to watch.

But at the same time, this attitude also pigeonholes the livers into their "groups" aka cliques.
If they try to find fresh ground, it will often be difficult - first collab with someone will ALWAYS have a bit of awkwardness - but the fans of the person/group will IMMEDIATELY compare in to the established group and say how shit that is, and instead of going for this new thing they could've just hung out with their familiar, unchanging, safe group.
Because change is scary to them.

Possibly with good reason though, since there's infinite amounts of permutations of niji combos, 80-90% of them will inevitably be shit, so the 10% that survive that process and become "staple" will have much more of an allure.

Thanks to most livers not having any form of PR training or management assistance, they will simply bow to what they think the fans want and continue being in their old groups without trying new things.

These "submissive" type livers will often find that if they keep sticking with their old cliques, their content eventually becomes stale and the same people that told them to stop doing new things will eventually stop watching them as well.
Some livers might be aware of this though, and they will ignore these type of "fans" and continue collabing with new people in order to keep their content fresh.
They often become the centre of several controversies, but at the same time will also become central figures around whom MANY livers will revolve.
Folks like Mayuzumi, Ryushen, Kuzuha etc. will always look within and outside niji for new people to make content with.

But with that level of confidence, there also comes ego. Some of them will often disregard fans' wishes as they think they're above them (and from their POV they're right, since the detractors for their fresh content were wrong). Once again thanks to lack of PR training or any form of management, they often conflate the fanbase being wrong about one thing to being wrong about EVERYTHING. Leading to more controversies, more flame, more infighting with other fanbases etc. etc. all the while the liver continues thinking they're right because their fanbase worships them while the rest of the world hates them.

Nijisanji is like a high school classroom that's run by the students for YEARS on end without ever having a single teacher.

I've been trying to get into NijiJP a little more since they were respectably doing well last month on a numbers perspective but the one thing that ultimately can't make me a full time fan is the apparent favoritism I keep seeing. I won't give out names of certain livers since it's blatantly obvious as to who management keeps preferring for big events, lives, sponsorships etc. but when there's livers who don't even have 100K (yes, 100K) subs like Yuuta I start to get worried how they're supposed to be in the same agency as a heavy hitter like Kuzuha for example. In Hololive by contrast I've seen lower tier JPs like Roboco get plenty of recognition that doesn't make her look like a complete virtual unknown like Yuuta for example. I mean obviously there's more popular Holos like Suisei for example, but it's to a point where the average Holoris can name or at least recognize all 35 JPs at once. HoloEN and HoloID are often included in big events, but I don't see NijiEN get included so often and if they do, it's only a select few from there as others get left out every time. I really hate to say it but I don't understand the apparent bureaucracy I keep seeing in Nijisanji. It makes me question the fandom and how fans of lower tier Nijis feel about the ones leagues above them in every department imaginable. It's like a complete contrast from Hololive. You just know something isn't right at all.
