I wouldn't say they failed. Most well know 2434 VTubers have around 500k-600k subs with Kuzuha being an outlier with 850k subs and fan favourites like Hana only having around 250k subs.

Pomu having 100k after a month when is huge for Nijisanji standards. But I think one of the reasons why their EN didn't explode like the Hololive one did is because you 2434 just isn't as well known in the west and without the brand recognition that "Hololive" has and no breakout star like Gura (HoloEN would never be as successful without the shark), they couldn't capture a broad western audience.
