Now that we have some context to work off, I'm leaning towards her comment being about talking collabs slowly more than anything else. She was kind of stiff in the debut collab after all, but thrives in her solo streams and hasn't relaxed with the GFE at all. The latter part of what you said I can see as valid, some viewers don't want this sort of thing from the streamer / vtuber. But I don't see the "shock value" part.

My fiance is less on the spectrum than Shiori plays herself out to be and I can tell you that she struggles incredibly with trying to hold a normal conversation that doesn't devolve into ADHD ramblings.

I've had like 3 false starts trying to pick up Gravity's Rainbow and I've always ended up dropping it around page 50/75. The Crying of Lot 49 was my favorite novel before I finally got around to reading Blood Meridian. The way Oedipa Maas under goes a weird hallucinogenic trip while she constantly notices the muted post horn and W.A.S.T.E. symbology everywhere was some of the wildest shit I've seen in fiction until I read Mondaugen's Story in V.. i'm not sure if this is a /lit/ book, but probably the most recent literaryish book i've read is neuromancer and i'd highly recommend it. it's a trip realizing how nearly singularly it influenced cyberpunk, and i think it was an even bigger influence than blade runner just feeling the vibes. it's one of those cases where the progenitor work is actually as good or better than the things it influenced, and it breathes a lot of life back into an aesthetic that was staid for me, ironically.

I do think it's occasionally too much how much he throws at you at once and could benefit from like five percent trimming, but that's just a quibble. So I was and am still in many ways pretty much like you. I did finish a huge creative project that took five years and am currently trying to see it turned into commercial benefit. But to be honest with you, the reason I crossed the finish line is because a friend of mine said he saw the potential and believed in it and worked with me for literal years as a sounding board. I don't mean to say this to discourage you to say you'll never do it without someone to hold your hand like I needed. I actually disagree fairly strongly. Not that I don't think people can be hypochondriac, but I think taking a step back and looking at the entire course of human history, it's clear that our fundamental cognition has changed from each technological innovation, and that recent hyper stimuli have become such pervasive parts of our lives that it's not incorrect to say that society as a whole is just becoming more mentally ill. I'm sure this all comes off like the water is turning out frogs gay type of reasoning, but my main point is that if everyone loses attention span then it becomes normalized. And that, empirically, everyone has lost attention span. We are actually more ADHD than the last generation.

To be honest, as someone diagnosed with ADHD but that sure accepts maybe it was just some quack and I'm just validating my issues -- I really think everyone just looks at this issue the wrong way. It really doesn't matter whether or not you make it into the disease club or not. What does matter is what course of action leads to your best life. Whether or not I actually have ADHD, what I can say is that ADHD medication turned my life around. But that's a very relative statement. I was in college when I started taking it. In a certain sense I was a more than fine achiever headed for a fairly normal life. But, at any rate, I eventually got on ADHD medication and after years of figuring what works and what doesn't I've become someone who's much happier with who I am, and it really started there for me.

But of course to translate my personal experience into a diagnosis of anon, and a testimony that he should take meds is absurd. Not only does everyone have different biochemistries, and a hard time trying to quantify subjective difficulties, but also not everyone agrees philosophically whether pharmaceuticals are truly safe in the long run, or if they're actually addressing an existing impairment or simply buffing an individual who may very well be neurotypical. There are plenty of pharm horror stories. Not to mention there are a million ways to improve yourself and deal better with your mind, all of which I've also had to pursue, like meditation, exercising, occasionally going camping to unplug, reading to expand the mind, so on and so forth. It's true that maybe what anon needs isnt Adderall but a nice benchplane so he can give wood working a shot. Well. Probably not woodworking. It's a pretty expensive hobby.

Anyway my real point is, I think a solution focused mindset where pharmaceuticals are considered as a genuine and viable option with unknown risks is the best way to go about it. One thing about pharms is they really are noncommittal. You can give Adderall or Wellbutrin or Ritalin a shot and see if they help, and it's up to your own personal maturity and character to make an honest assessment of whether they make you a more capable person and, more importantly, a better person.
