What are non-gaming things that you can do? I'd like to get into vtubing but to be honest, I find the super long gaming streams rather dull to watch as a viewer, and I really like watching generic "chat" streams. But obviously you can't just do unstructured chat streams 100% of the time.

I'm doing my best to work hard, save up, and buy nice assets for myself. Not because I think it will slingshot me to stardom, but because I personally like having high quality stuff and I have some extra money for it. It's just really upsetting that artists do not respect me. Not sure if anyone else has dealt with this, but even the high-profile artists I work with keep on delaying my stuff, not meeting deadlines, prioritizing other "more popular" client's work, etc. It's happening so often and I'm so fucking upset and tired. With every instance of this, I get closer to quitting and selling everything. :/

Yeah it seems like artists get more and more unreliable as time passes, at least from the perspective of a small indie client.
Funnily enough my one experience with a Fiverr artist has been way better than any experience from other sites like SKEB or Vgen. I don't really know any other external sites that have buyer protection and a rating system though. Do you have any suggestions?

Yes, nowadays I always ask for a deadline and I always make sure it's reasonable for the amount of work they're doing.

Yes, but sometimes I just stop getting updates and then get ghosted when I ask about progress. I will see the artists post on Twitter or sometimes even stream while I wait for a response.

Most artists in the Vtuber sphere don’t work with a formal contract unless its a huge project or you're a corpo, but yes I ask for a deadline (which the artist sets or agrees to) after all the other details are worked out. Even with the commissions with formal contracts, I still got fucked over because the contracts only properly protect the artist and not the client.

I’ve been in the art community for over 10 years now. It's not common for artists to have formal contracts unless they do work with a company or something. Even most “Terms of Service” artists have on their Carrd or whatever aren’t valid. Commission culture mostly works on mutual respect which sadly is being phased out.

At current, Lord of the Board and We're All Gonna Make It and STAYHOPEFUL are our "medal" players so the most likely to have a use for their own goalhorns.

okay i did a little mockup of the schedule for manasong, i ended up being closer to the other one than i expected i'll probably just change things because it annoys me, what are the odds i post something that fits exactly to another chuubas color scheme...

some notes from my side (this is opinions feel free to disregard):

-enchanted lands kind of an ass font, but thats what you get for free. doesn't have variations etc and it's kinda hard to read. but if you increase tracking it actually doesn't look half bad (letters further apart)
- the color scheme of the character is kinda neat, id try to add the green from the eyes somewhere but i don't think I'd be able to do that without destroying the overall readability.
- i added some 2 minute typography logo because it's better than having nothing. if you want something like that i can refine it and give you a full version of it (larger etc), but i'm ass at logos so it's not gonna get much better than that.
- i know socials are kinda redundant, but whatever it fills the space
- the art box i chose because AI art is usually made in smaller resolutions so a full size art bg schedule probably is harder to prompt for. you should probably still prompt the character with a background otherwise this is going to look bad. (lemme know if you another "art showcase")
- twitter really squishes 16:9 schedules, but i like how clean they look regardless, you can take a look at how other vtubers do it and see how portrait schedules look (i use one for my channel but thats just because i have nothing to really show)
- the fonts im using are open sans, enchanted lands and cinzel.

if you want anything else in the schedule, want the dates / times set up differently or change anything whatsoever let me know. this isn't the final version I have to adjust a couple things and make proper layers so even someone with no skills can edit this easily and not suffer or break anything. since i'm making this in photoshop you'd need that or i think gimp can import PSD's but I take no responsiblity to what happens once you do. since you have a twitter ill probably just post it here or throw it in a DM.

What's fun about clips? I have never really enjoyed watching them, and I haven't enjoyed making them. It might be that my sense of humor is shot and just nothing is really funny. Clipper here, I just think that the highlights of particular moments in streams can be a sort of sales pitch to a wider audience. YouTube actually has visibility over time, so it works out to a pretty big boon if you can get something going. I understand. I'll clean up the file and get the necessary files ready. This will take a while so expect like a DM or something like that in a day or two. Making and labelling layers properly actually takes a long-ass time. I usually lock stuff that isn't supposed to be changed because when I end up seeing the schedule a lot of the clients end up shifting things around which kills the layouter in me. Has anyone had to put in effort to improve their speaking voice, because I always sound like this no matter who I talk to. I've even floated around with the idea of putting on a British accent. If I can get it good enough and consistent enough, I might go back to that.

Stratifying these types of threads based on success has always been a bad idea. It makes sense if the posters are all viewers. Corpor fans would drown out fans of smaller vtubers.

But when it comes to actual vtubers that want to learn and network, it’s needlessly limiting. Imagine this, you’re a beginner guitarist. You’re in a guitar forum. You want to learn how to do pinch harmonics, which is a more intermediate technique. You’re a beginner so you ask the people in the beginner section. No one can answer your question because everyone that posts in the beginner question are beginners who don’t know how to do pinch harmonics. You want to hop into the intermediate section and ask your question, but board culture says you don’t belong in the intermediate section and should stick to the beginner section until you master all the beginner skills first. None of the intermediate players have any reason to hang out with the beginner players. Beginner players are basically the blind leading the blind. Intermediate and advanced players aren’t passing on the knowledge that they picked up. And at the end of the day you still have no idea how to make pinch harmonics sounds nice and clean.
