Because most artists pick up habits working for gacha and follow the current trends which are mostly set by other artists working for gacha. Every fucking time a new gen debuts there are people complaining about how the designs look like the current big gacha.

Earlier gens have safer, simpler and usual anime archetype designs, Sora is a typical idol girl design, Matsuri is a literal highschool girl, Sakura miko is.. a Miko with a Sakura theme, and haachama is just a girl. as time goes on they'll start to introduce more bold and flashy designs since hololive is popular now, and there's also the competition.
