What about reading a section or a singular chapter of the series and leaving a review based on just that? You should always be trying to keep your final product clean, imo. Proper storytelling matters more than setting because only within a narrative do readers actually feel the impact of the setting/background. If it's just loose fluff, there's little reason to care.

I create a separate document for the extra lore. The story itself should have just enough info to stand on its own, exposition should support the work directly, either by explaining the motivations of factions or characters, foreshadowing how a certain mechanic is gonna work, or creating an ambience that supports some other narrative goal.
Imo at least. I've written thousands of words of lore to put my ideas in order in preparation for a paragraph or two of actual storyline, it's pretty fun, feels easier than writing stories.

As stupid as it sounds, every once in a while I will actually remember that I can plan ahead for my fics and basically do little storyboards. I don't have to come up with everything on the spot. So it's one of those times and I'm progressing fantastically with both my WIPs.

Yeah I got nothing. That's a concept that 100% needs the context and buildup in order to work. Having it just be a no context "Plot? What Plot?" fic doesn't really do it justice since this is very much more on the character appeal side rather than the pure smut appeal side.

I had a WIP for a Shion body switch fic that I already told the thread about a couple months ago. I dropped the in-progress doc here as well.
Besides that I had an idea for an Ina romance fic where (You) are a hardcore deliquent who enjoys getting into fights, while Ina is a polite honour student with top marks that enjoys painting. You would start hanging out with her due to <すてきな出会い> despite being complete opposites. Ina's friends and the entire student body would be shocked and try to separate the two of you, including teachers because they think you're a bad influence on her. When you and Ina begin dating, the whole school would just explode.
I'm always interested in writing the dynamics between characters more than anything, so I liked the idea of a bad boy who's hated by everyone getting together with a good girl that's loved. There's a slim chance I'll try writing it again since I have too many WIPs right now, but I could slip it into an upcoming fic instead.
