This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think they should have let Coco and Rushia keep their chuuba avatars after they left. I don't think this should apply to some literal 2view shitters who join the company and get isekai'd in 1 month, but there definitely should be some sort of cut off where all expenses are considered to be paid off and enough profit is made to let them become "free agents".
This is not the same as voicing an anime character; all they're given is a few text lines of lore and then they build everything on top of it. They stream (almost) every day, make their offline experiences a part of their character/keyfabe and eventually merge with the character. They become the character.
Rushia generated almost 3.3M $ in superchats and that means, if we go by the default 50-50 split after YT's cut, Cover received 1.1M USD from her just from superchats. That's besides a shit ton of memberships, merch and other sources of revenue. She alone made enough money to debut multiple new gens or hire 20 average salary employees for a year just from her SC money. And yet...she got canned without even being allowed to say a single word, and all official references to her were erased. What's the point? Instilling fear? Full control? Her avatar will now rot forever without being used because usually chuubas are not given to another VAs.
I never particularly liked Rushia, but I think she did a surprising power move then she decided to debut this new (old) avatar. I hope other vtubers who earned their keep and are also attached to their avatars will do the same once they graduate.
