That was not at all my issue, it's just that tech anything is boring and overdone in today's industry. And regarding "cultural eggshells", it's what the training months are there for anyway. Learning and absorbing what the character's myths are would be the most basic of basics. Someone will get triggered no matter what you do, so why worry about it?

No where in Aurorai snows as much as the Anarctic. As for Anakondia, its more swampy and tropical, and humid too as a result of it being an archipelago.

Coldest place would probably be the northern part of Savan which includes the capitol(Lionsgard) and that island on top of Savan.

Deserts can be cold right? I initially pictured Negazion more like an inhospitable land, stone everywhere you see and lava flowing in rivers instead of water.

And yes, gorgons still have tits whole. FE8 said so, in their battle animations. However...their mating needs as well as results are altered to be more reptilian.

Any place can be a desert as long as it doesn't have a lot of water. While the place being burning hot can help with that, other things that stop rain from reaching the land can do the trick (which does have the interesting consequence of making the RL Antarctica also a desert)

Well, if it sank into the ocean (presumably it rose back up later?), then that will definitely kill off a lot of the existing plants (and animals for that matter). Combined with the lands being eroded by magical experiments, the landscape will probably be very aeolian ("wind-shaped", mostly because of all the sand and dirt being blown around due to a lack of vegetation to protect the soil - think the dust bowl) in nature.

These factors are mostly independent from temperature, so they can be in both hot and cold desert. In either case the land will likely be a mixture of sand, dust (also known as loess), and exposed rocks of various shapes due to the natural sanding (and maybe artificial magical damage in your case). Calling it badlands might fit the image well. While the arid land is unconducive to vegetation and agriculture, select spots of exposed water (like oases and river, here being cold helps reduce evaporation) can still support some degree of farming and thus population if you want.

It's a take on European Fantasy through a japanese lens, but it's pretty old so it predates the period where everything became extremely generic and standardized. From afar it kinda looks like your kitchen sink fantasy, with elves, dwarves, necromancers, dark elves, dragons, paladins, clerics, but the designs are excellent and the way the character narratives tie into the politics of the settings feel deeper than most fantasy in anime. The various factions have internal conflicts and motivations, even the obvious "villain" faction.
I think FE has some Lodoss DNA so I guess it's no surprise I'd be reminded of it.
The bit that reminded me of it is that Lodoss is also about a desolate island nation filled with demons (Marno) waging a war of conquest on a more fertile continent (Lodoss), which parallels Negazion and Polaria nicely.
I'd recommend watching the 13 ep OVA by madhouse, it's really an excellent bit of anime. The TV series has some slow bits but it's a good time too.

The coup is led by two of Botan's councillors (admittedly, I unintentionally used the evil is unattractive trope so you'd spot who's who lol). Even Pekora wasnt safe and she had to run away with Mooner due to people salivating over control of Pekoland, a rich territory of Savan. Naturally, House Usada presides it.
