You stumble over a random house in TotK, there are some quirky characters inside. You stumble over an empty lighthouse in Skyrim, inside is lots of blood and many diaries describing how the inhabitants were kidnapped and fed to insects.
Bethesda games have family feuds where a son of one of the families gets sold to elves to be tortured, disfigured victims of radiation being outcast and mistreated so much they hop on a rocket to hopefully find a better life, political drama between factions, ruins filled with corpses...

My bet is still on her sound settings being fucked.
Sound is one of the few parts of an OS that needs precise timings without interrupts. There's two ways to manage resource contention with sound, because interrupts have to happen and other applications will always be competing for resources.
Either the OS buffers sound (increasing latency a small amount) or the OS gives priority to applications making sound. Conflicts happen on the latter if two things are the top priority, and then the experience sucks.
tl;dr: My hunch is that she's got "low latency" set somewhere in sound settings after installing NVIDIA shit, and without fucking with a bunch of other shit, that's causing the sound to cutout badly when other programs use CPU.

Though, to be fair, I don't know if they fixed it in the meantime or whatever but when I watched Wosemi play SA recently, there weren't really any big issues at least. Right now? The GoXLR with its crappy end of life firmware is one of the prime suspects for causing Kiara's random tech issues after recently upgrading her computer.

But more than that, the GoXLR has long become a flashpoint symbol of her contentious audio quality / voice complaints in general. Sure, part of it is just a meme that has taken on a life of its own, and part of it may also be cope i.e. that it's ooonly GoXLR holding her back and if it was gone everyone would suddenly realize how toootally different and cuter she really sounds etc.
The actual truth is probably somewhere in the middle. The GoXLR itself doesn't help, but how bad it is also depends a lot on your own settings and you can improve a lot by tweaking it - which our tech-illiterate chimken doesn't do and just goes with the stock or whatever presets Ame uses and thinks "ehh whatever, sounds good enough, don't bother...".

In reality these issues usually rarely have one single point of failure that, if you just switch it out, everything suddenly changes, instead it's usually a chain of little fuckups that add up. She could do a lot with proper eq-ing and compression to put the harsh edge off her voice and make it more smooth and even to listen to, but she doesn't know how and probably doesn't even care, plus with her "gamer girl headphones" more selected for looks than sound quality it's arguable she can't even hear whats wrong. She also sits too close to the microphone and doesn't use a pop filter, this is basic 101 stuff that would improve her sound quality much more than any fancy expensive new tech gadget, but again, no dice. And in the end, while we had timeloops around "chicken voice" vs "real voice" for years now, it's simply the case that no matter what you call the voice Kiara chooses to present herself on stream, it's always gonna be an niche "aquired taste" voice, not for everyone. Most of the voices EN viewers really like and actively compliment usually fall into one of two categories, either softspoken uwu shygirl or deepsex dommymommy, more or less, the rest are just whatever. Kiara's, let's call it positively, excited genki type voice is more of an outlier and if you're not into that, it's easy to come off as more annoying and grating than the fomer two. And while there's technical ways Kiara could use to present that voice in a better way, see above, there's no one simple magic fix or piece of tech that would suddenly transform her general voice type into one with overwhelming mainstream appeal that'd make everyone suddenly like it.

I fucked around with EQ-ing her streams (well, a 1 min part of her most recent minecraft stream) for 2 hours and unfortunately there really isn't a simple solution for the harshness
a simple limiter would help quite a bit, it seems that she projects certain sounds louder than others, which can be very irritating
I also took samples from Mumei's and Fauna's streams, as I feel they are more conventionally pleasant to listen to
to my surprise, Mumei's setup sound very similar to Kiara's, I'm pretty sure they're using the same hardware and settings, which means Mumei also sounds harsher for no reason but it's not that apparent because of her tone
the key thing I found about Fauna is that she speaks quite a bit more quietly than the other two which sounds more pleasant
in fact, lowering the volume of Kiara's streams is what I've been doing this whole time, which means I usually don't hear the game volume
it doesn't help that when she actually balances game audio with her voice that phone niggers start writing "can't hear you boss" in chat

Doesn't surprise me, I remember she said she just copied all of Ame's settings, and I'd say they work extremely well for Ame's voice, which is one of the most pleasant to listen to imo.
Another example is Kronii who actually peaks quite a bit (in exchange her normal speaking is a bit more "ASMR"-ish) but it's simply not that bothersome to my ears.
