setplay moreso refers to oki with like, setup. like millia putting a disc on you after a knockdown, or i-no throwing a note at you on your wakeup. like a "fuck you, guess against my mixup under the pressure of this projectile or i'm knocking you back down and you'll have to guess again" type of thing.

setplay characters have strong oki, and setplay refers to oki situations, but it isn't an interchangeable term. it's just more relevant to anime because street fighter characters don't do this type of shit to you.

untechable would be the equivalent of a hard knockdown as far as I understand it

Oh, well you wouldn’t get hard knocked. Untechable means you’d either guaranteed floor, wall, or ceiling bounce, and that usually means death at the damage levels that you get untechable hits.
Hard knockdown would be something like what we call “downed,” which is what happens when you miss a floor tech. Melee/Brawl do this automatically if you hit the ground because it doesn’t have floor bounces, and in future smash games and most other platform fighters it’ll happen if you fail teching out of a tumble, and it takes 20-ish frames before you can do a getup option. Rivals doesn’t have knockdown at all. There’s also crumple, which functions similarly but gives way more frame advantage to the attacker and is usually pretty specialized (Ryu/Ken have it on focus attack). With the shit that people can cover with tech chases, though, knockdown has comparatively way less detriment than in traditional fighters though, I’m gathering

A pedal doesn't have any mechanical capability the triggers don't even if you left the analog input in, once again the only issue is having it wired as one controller, which also isn't hard as such but is potentially messier if you have to make a hole for the wire, start soldering on to the PCB, etc. If you have L3/R3 on your shit already and double wire something then you have a problem in CPT but not Evo.
