Well, niji Koshien has the bonus of running at roughly the same time as real Koshien, dipping into the japanease culture autism.
No other thing comes close on a sports level, even if they would want to try you can't really counter it with the exact type of event, i.e. baseball tournament, since Niji has the first mover advantage if they would run at the same time.

Disregarding all the "bot" accusations, Koshien is an insanely tourist heavy event. Shit reminds me of the superbowl with people who aren't even really handegg fans joining in because iof the hype. Every niji tournament /event has underperformed this year because they rely squarely on the popularity of the brand that has diminished somewhat with all the "acceleration". But I'm pretty confident in saying that Koshien has become something like a tradition to the nips and is thus unaffected by whatever happens to the Nijisanji brand.
