In JP nijisanji there are a few of them, and even some of the homos in nijiJP can be bros given the conditions of the stream. However, both tempiss, nijiEN and every single male indie vtuber are absolute faggots. And i'm not just talking about model design, they simply act like complete cringe homos. It's either unfunny gay sex jokes nonstop, pandering to fujo, doing gay asmr or yumejo crap. Why can japan have interesting and relatable male vtubers but the west get only faggots?

Japanese fans are very different from Western fans because vtubing is mainstream enough there that a lot of the viewership are people living normal lives that just need something to tune into while they're in transit or making dinner for the family.

That level of exposure isn't available over here meaning that a vast majority of fans arrive through some kind of geeky subculture, if not an antisocial one. The results of this are pretty clear. There isn't a large audience of men who want to watch other men, and the men who perform largely come from the same spheres, meaning very few of them are well socialized and genuinely charismatic. This is not exclusive of the men actually, but women are more often forgiven by the viewership for having these flaws.

Fundamentally, interest in vtubing in the west is all parasocial. The desire for brotubers is no exception, but even if a man has the potential to be a brotuber, he isn't incentivized to do it. Vesper is a great example as someone who's tenuously what people asked for out of a brotuber, even though we've since realized that he's by far one of the biggest faggots in the scene and his fanbase is incredibly parasocial even compared to most intense waifufag fanbases. This is just the natural course of events.

How do you even define brotuber? Because I can click on any random male vtuber on twitch and 9 times out of 10, they’re doing the exact same thing a no cam streamer like Vinesauce is. Is it a primarily male audience? Because there are plenty that had that before becoming vtubers and didn’t change their content at all after becoming one. Someone like Bettel would feel right at least home on the couch with the Oneyplays crew, and that goes for a bunch of male vtubers. You just don’t watch them, so you wouldn’t know.

A number of reasons but I think the biggest is loss of body language and direct association with Otaku culture.
Bro streamers tend to really rely on masculine body language as well as their voice in order to get the true bro vibe. Not all of them do this but would someone like that buff midget Tyler or that faggot Charlie be as popular as they are if you only saw an anime pic instead of their faces when they speak?
There's exceptions to this but its mostly for video essayist or story time youtubers and they almost never fall into the category of bro tuber.
