They are still good as indiviudal talents of holoEN at what they do. They just lost the group chemistry. You could argue if they ever had one from the beginning but they were "forced" to do stuff together whether it was at their own volition of genuinely wanting to be an unit or company mandated stuff. As time went on they focused on doing their own thing more as they found their own niche as talents.
I think they are 5 very unique personalities that doesn't necessarily mesh together well as they don't have common grounds or personality traits. It makes them stand out more but hard to have chemistry as one.
I honestly do not think any of them got "worse". I would say if you were a day one fan and not a mentally ill manchild who gets offended by nothingburgers you would still enjoy them today if not more for the most part at least

Generally speaking, it's the fact that they got too used to being hostile towards their audience. People always wanna scream at tempus (which did help to reduce their numbers but not that much) but everyone conveniently ignores the fact that they already had problems as streamers way before. Mori did it several times, Ame STILL does it, Ina still does it, but over the most mundane shit ever instead. Kiara has somehow managed well and Gura isn't around enough to give much of a shit about pretty much anything anymore. Now combine that with how sometimes they just don't fucking stream, and there you have it. Ultimately, they just got too comfortable and they cracked under the most basic pressure a streamer experiences.

Bad managament neglected their emotional health and wellbeing, they weren't pushed to do events or had them organized for them, they were pretty much just left to handle everything themselves until they go tired.
The new gen release was also fucked, Gen 2 came too late and Gen 3 is still way way too fucking late, only having 5 talents for so long and still just 10 puts too much weight on them.
Also their success came too fast, too easy, too big. They did not work for it at all.
In the case of some it made them take it for granted and not care about it or their fans. In the case of others it gave them imposter syndrome.
It wasn't so evident initially but now it's pretty clear how badly it has hurt them.
They were also never pushed outside their comfort zone or to work hard, they are basically spoiled sheltered divas.

I think one of the biggest problems hololive en have is that they don't leave close to each other. Hololive JP know each other, they know who they are and can help each other. There's a lot of examples of good interactions that made their relationships better. And even if they don't stream or they felt down they can still se each other. They can go to cover and see real managers and talk to real people. I feel like doing everything online makes it feel like a void job. Just watching a black screen and everything ends when you close the stream other than some messages. You need to have a healthy mind, to handle that. A bunch of my university professors quit because of that. And I don't think they have the same pressure as this vtuber who are still for the most part young. Still I think living together with a physical company and seing you coworkers physically it's a real game changer, that I feel en never had.

I don't get what you understood from "don't feel like big vtubers" but this has nothing to do with that, many of the big JP holos do the same thing
what separates them is that 3 views do vtuber part time and don't really commit to it as a serious thing, well some 3 views do but with the bigger vtubers you do feel a higher sense of commitment, they have no other job and they value their experience as vtubers fully
with these girls it feels like they do it part time and don't really love it, at any time they might just decide to quit, this isn't their life
