I'm pretty sure that was me and I'm still mostly thinking the same thing. He definitely started drawing her a bit different over the past couple of years. I think the waist thing was just a one-off thing in that particular drawing, but way he draws her face has changed a lot, especially in the last year or so. It's gotten a lot wider and rounder, she used to have a thin and angular face.

Flare hated the shade of brown her original design was. Which is fair, Japanese artists tend to be really bad at making brown characters. Here's a list of subtle changes that were observed by an artist (oinari sensei), not all of which have been mentioned here:
Her eye shape changed slightly, her ears are pointing more outwards rather than straight ahead, her hood got more substance to it and isn't as flat, her skin is a bit redder than before, the colored part on her shoes is more golden than before, the highlights in her eyes got bigger, her ears are oriented more horizontal than before when they were mostly vertical.

Thanks for the webm, makes it very easy to compare. Her new hair looks much more realistic and dynamic than before, I like it a lot. I'm comparing each expression side by side and really, even if I wanted to, there's no way I'd say the new model isn't better. It simply exceeds the quality of the previous one, technically.
On the old model she had a special stare (such a characteristic "wtf" / "oh shit" / "I'm lost" constant look), which I largely believe was given by how technologically outdated it was becoming. In fact if you compare the expressions (old model), you will notice that the eyes and that stare hardly change from one to the other. Whether happy, angry or sad, 'that stare' is still there.
But the new model's expressions are now more characteristic, and as we saw at the end of the last stream, it gives her much more dynamism and expressiveness. The downside is that it "lost" that constant characteristic gaze it had, or rather, it's no longer the default. Look picrel, I feel it's still there, it's just not constant anymore (now you would have to find that expression rather than just seeing it all the time). Having been exposed for so long to mostly one type of expression makes it strange when we are exposed to others.
As for me, I love it, it gives her a lot more tools to make the stream more... interactive?. I noticed it with the ears, now every time she gets surprised or excited and raises her eyebrows (or opening her eyes a lot), her ears go up, which makes me notice and think about her real expression. Before, you could hardly intuit where her head was pointing, let alone what she was looking at.
Reading what I wrote makes me think I'm throwing too much shit at the old model's expressiveness, but that's not what I want to convey. It was expressive and lovely in its own way but, in my opinion, this change is for the better. It will take me some time to get used to it while I "explore" and pay attention to this new range of things the new one has to offer.

tldr: I like both models in their own way and while I am more sentimentally attached to the old one, I feel that the new one has more to offer, more "quirks" to be attached to in the long run.

And all of that is not even to mention how much better the rigging and animation of it is. At least so far it hasn't done the thing where the facial features get stuck briefly or spaz out. The 3d effect of this one is so much better it makes the old one look completely flat and motionlessly still. The increased ear motion is the best for me; it doesn't require her to press a button to change expression to do the same ear movement but now can raise and fall and turn on the fly with her own expression, exactly as it should if she were actually there. It all adds to such a new sense of realism that wasn't there before. Me like new thing too friend.

I got time to catch up and I'm... indifferent. On one way the model is way more fluid in animation and has more expressions. But for the moment, I'm just a bit sad because her face looks different. Clearly they "fixed" the colors and the contrast is better and overall it looks more vivid. Unfamiliar but maybe not so bad.
What bothers me more is the changed style of her eyes. They are rounder in the new model. It's also not possible to see her round iris as whole.
I'm not sure, if I'll get used to her new ears that move much more. Her old model only had slight movements and clear extra expressions for anger and joy. At least they didn't add the twitching that Okayu does all the time. It's just unnatural.
It also feels like she's looking down all the time. I might just get used to it. I hope her formal costume receives the update too by then.

Her eyes per se are pretty much the same stylewise. Like this anon says >>52119289 the eyeliner makes them 'look" smaller. By the end of the stream I was already getting used to it. In my opinion, they still are Fubuki's eyes (that was what worried me the most), a little more realistic and expressive (with some thick makeup) but still 'her' eyes which makes me happy.

Yeah, that's the "realistic" part. Before, that was pretty much the default expression, but now it depends on her opening her eyes a lot or using the yandere expression. It was what I meant with "now you would have to find that expression rather than just seeing it all the time"

Actually yes, that's exactly it, but I didn't realize it when I wrote my post either. What I perceived as "size" was just a difference in shape when she opens it. The top of her mouth went from concave to convex and it changes the way she looks when smiling (and to a certain extent talking) drastically. In the image you attached I find that the old model has a friendly smile while the next one looks like a little like she's making fun of me instead. I'm sure we will all get used to it in due time but right now that part of the model looks a bit odd to me still.

I think it's neither, they just got slightly more realistic. They are just hanging from the middle of her chest kind of in front of her armpits in the old model while they are are properly attached where they are supposed to in the new model. It gives them a slightly different shape at the top, but the size itself looks pretty much identical to me.

I think we will get used to the change very quickly. With more and more streams it will eventually settle in. When I see them side by side just talking, in motion, I realize how fluid it is now and how rigid it was before. Maybe for now I'm still attached to the old model when I see screenshots, but the moment I see them in motion, the difference in quality is clear, and it's obvious which one I'd prefer in actual streams. I think that, even though there are some counterpoints, the overall balance is very positive

See, I really like the way the new model looks in that screenshot you have there, it's pretty much perfect when the mouth isn't too wide open. I happened to come across this earlier, I didn't know this existed. I wasn't aware there was footage of these two talking out there. I had seen the final stage of her concept art but I don't think I ever saw the first stage where she was mostly green. Lots of interesting stuff came up. Apparently, whoever was in charge of commissioning her design vetoed the entirely open front and made him put at least one button there. That person also preferred the navy color outfit over the white one but in the end Mito put down his foot and went with the white one because that's literally in her name. Fubuki was also the very first time he ever had to design parts for a live 2D model, that's probably a major reason why her first model was so incredibly janky. Fubuki had been asking Mito to make a Kuro model as early as the beginning of 2020, apparently, he sure took his time. He mentioned he wanted to make sure that she gets an appropriately cool design rather than a cute one, and he did deliver on that front in the end. Fubuki was asked for some input in creating her new year's outfit, but she mostly let Mito decide on his own, she did end up picking the color palette, though. Mito said he would really like to make a school uniform outfit for Fubuki next. Three years later, that still hasn't happened. Also, apparently, this was not the first time they talked to each other because Fubuki joined Mito on his own stream and talked and played a game together before at least once. I wonder if an archive of that exists somewhere, although I doubt it. Definitely give this a watch if you have the time, I thought it was very interesting.

Just by the looks of it this entire stream seems crazy, fubuki mcing an entire event for a whole 6 hours, I had no idea this ever happened as it was one month before I started watching her. Not only was mito there but some unexpected combos as well, the holostars were there before I ever thought they were given recognition by the main channel, her (from what I know) one or one of the few interactions with Rushia that I've seen, a lot of interesting things to pull from this stream, too bad it's so damn long. Probably a lot of interesting things to pull if you dig a bit deeper.

Yeah, it seems crazy. I guess that was their way of holding the Holoket event even when it wasn't possible in person due to the lockdowns, and it seems to have been hard carried by Fubuki at the height of her popularity. Lots of interesting sections, I might go back and watch a couple more if I can find the time, but I figured if there's one I wanted to watch today, it was the Mito one. The drawing one seems fun too, might watch that later. Also, we seem to have started watching her at the exact same time, I started watching her seriously in June of that year so I also just missed out on this whole event.

I forgot to note that in some of the older videos like the battle with Aki or her first Pokemon unboxing ones, she pretended that the hand wasn't hers but that her manager came to her house in the middle of the night specifically to open packs for her on camera. I'm not a Sukonbu, but I have a lot of respect for Fubuki. On the whole I really love the new design. The only thing which will take some time to get used to for me is how puffy her face is and the lack of "dead eyes" from her old model, where it looked like she's constantly in shock/surprise.

I have a question though. A while back she and other early 1st Gen members got that Live2D 3.0 update, with a bunch of difference expression such as tears, puffy cheeks etc. I may have missed it in her stream, but does she still have access to those now?

I can't speak about the other members, but Fubuki definitely does not have access to them anymore with the redesign. Someone was talking about the moving cheeks while eating in the streams leading up to the update and the specified that that is a 3.0 feature and not included in the update anymore. She barely ever used any of the features outside of the initial reveal stream anyway, though. The last time I have seen any sign of 3.0 was her leaning back in a way that was only possible after the update during her Hello Neighbor stream in February, but she hadn't been using her default model for like 6 months before that. When she went on to use it a lot in the last week or two before the redesign, I have seen no sign of 3.0 at all.

I haven't commented yet on the new update yet, but I don't think I can add a lot to the discussion. I was a huge fan of her previous look, with a lot of little things about it that I thout of as charm points. Like, I was weirdly obsessed with the angle of her ears in their default state.
The new model seems to be a massive improvement from a functional standpoint, and it's not unattractive, so I'm sure I'll get used to it in time. I'll still miss her old look, even if it was already a rare occurence when it showed up.
