The reason why jpy is devaluing compared to the US is because the interest rates in the US are so high compared to Japan that it's literally no brainer to buy USD. Cost of goods have remained relatively the same here despite the currency being devalued vs the USD.

The ONLY device Google makes with confirmed global FeliCa support is the pixel watch (even mentioned in their tech specs), but even THAT doesn't have it enabled yet.

My phone is literally an unlocked Pixel 7 Pro from the US. You don't need to a Japanese phone to register a suica card. You just change your region to Japan in the app store. It's literally as simple as that. I've done this dozens of times for all our new hires, I know what I'm talking about.

おサイフケータイ (osaifu-ketai) is a protocol that talks to the secure element on a device/card (traditionally, and still today, the FeliCa IC chip). When Suica was first released, the support for phones was a purely hardware implementation, once smartphones came around モバイルSuica was introduced to make supporting all the hundreds of manufactures easier, as this now implemented a web-based authentication system. That is why Apple is able to bypass the need for an actual FeliCa IC and use their own secure enclave. Google has the same potential, with their Titan M chip, but is too lazy to finish the implementation.
Both apps are ABSOLUTELY required, and the mobile suica app literally does not run without the service enabled. (picrel, the app literally prompting you to install the osaifu-ketai service from the playstore)
For someone who claims to have a lot of technical experience with this, you sure know very little about it.
