gonna give a bit of lore background because i don't know how much attention you were paying back when the relevant story beats were occuring
so there's this game called I Wanna Be The Guy which got infamous on early youtube. it's a trap-based "puzzle platformer" and back then was categorized as a rage game. people then started making fangames based on that game, many of them ditching the original trap-based formula to just make platformer games with the engine, since it has nice crisp controls. one of the many tropes in these games is using the fruit sprite (sometimes called an apple or cherry) from the original game as a generic projectile for enemies and bosses.
notable common features include hard platforming, bullet hell bosses that you fight by platforming instead of just moving, secrets, multiple routes or secret items (usually in adventure games, esp. old ones), traps of course, and music that'll get copyright claimed.
if you're interested, i highly recommend just starting with the original game, the community doesn't see many women so you're likely to have your chat flooded with them if anyone spots you in their recommended. playing the original will make you less likely to be noticed and keep you branded as an "outsider" to not draw much attention. it will take you quite a while to beat though.

It's really weird to me that every CL girl seems to have this inexplicable hatred toward the company when they were in it for all of a few months and nothing really came out aside from "women mean lol". I definitely think adding /excorpo/ to the title is a bad idea. It's like inviting all of the shitposters from every company directly into your house. It also gives a free ticket for Big Company fans to drop in and start reporting shit because they refuse to acknowledge that following chuubas after they graduate is normal and respectable behavior, though that is becoming a smaller problem every couple months.
I also think /aa/ should stay in the title, it's a little bit of our history and we shouldn't erase that just because it's inconvenient. I may be biased because I type "dojima" in the search bar to get to this thread easier, but hey, what can ya do.
If I had my way with this thread I'd also put /smalpns/ in the title (Shirayuri, Myholo, Animal Lounge, PixelLink, NexStage, StarRing) but I think that's a bit too much funposting for one guy to engage in
