I fucking love those things. I actually used them as a big narrative device in another worldbuilding project. That's really cool anon, a culture with a relationship like that with harmful radiation is an interesting concept... I guess those sites would be really badly designed though, if they made the people want to settle and stay right there kek. Perhaps the site was originally constructed by a people of another species, so the different anthropological context contributed to a misunderstanding?

Truth be told I don’t know how effective the deterrents would be, since reading the description makes me want to visit the place even though I know what the place’s about, so I feel future people who don’t know our culture would only be more interested in digging around it. That said it's also possible that the design might’ve been from a different culture or even a different people, namely Vitubia /vnug/ if the original builders based the design on old designs from the distant past
It’s also likely that the place was not properly decommissioned before being abandoned since enough of it remained accessible to relatively low-tech people. Or maybe the place was damaged in the past and enough time had passed that erosion revealed more of the facility. The radioactive material’s decayed enough that they aren’t (immediately) lethal after all or maybe the hazard’s not solely from radiation

Yeah, I vaguely recall something like that from where I read about it, where some of the researchers realized building massive monoliths designed to be as unnatural, imposing and scary as possible just creates irresistibly interesting and curiosity-inducing structures.
Maybe it would work on a particularly risk-averse culture, but a more exploratory culture would be interested to look into it?
I put mutated man-eating monsters in mine since it was for an action game, so I guess the slight radiation could be the least of your worries. Or maybe it's chuubanitic waste?

I think the fact that pretty much all graves we’ve rediscovered (unless they’re filled with mercury or something) have been robbed no matter how many images of divine punishment and eternal curses people had put on them shows that the most effective way to not make people want to explore a place is to hide it as well as possible

I do have a few ideas as to the status of Argenti Naaa, or more so the different things the monarchy tries to do to stop a complete societal collapse
>as regent, need to pay bounty to the Himedom and provide the local Hime Vessel with a royal tithe. Local Hime Vessel likely lives a few systems away because Hime Vessel's as a rule don't reside in shit holes.
>Princess Regent is declared and some fucker, perhaps a literal child, is chosen to represent the Hime Vessel on the planet. Hime Vessel really doesn't care that much but likes to have extra income to indulge in sweets and special interests and the nation needs a governor of some sort.
>either fucker is utterly incompetent as a ruler or circumstances are not in their favor, regardless, royal treasury is looking very low and they start spamming the print money button
>hand Hime Vessel the money owed in the royal bounty only for Hime Vessel to point out that the value of their currency is depreciated and isn't equal to the Confectionary Dollar. Argentina now in maasive debt to the Himedom, money is worthless.
>manage to get loans from a nasfaqg bank to partially pay off the debts to the Hime Vessel so that a fleet does not come to execute the Princess Regent for insolence.
>still in debt, now also in debt to nasfaqg
I imagine more scenarios occur that only compile onto themselves until Argenti Naaa is a wasteland that is barely operational and has been abandoned by all legitimate forms of government.
Maybe the fighting games could lead to battle coliseums being widespread or literally just a gigantic chunk of the global stock being dependent on if a group of Luknights won an intergalactic fighting games tournament.
Imagine chilling in your battlestation when all of a sudden the planetary governor prince informs you that if you don't clutch in finals, the royal family is going to be decapitated by an angry mob and the country is going to be mass audited by the space IRS.

Tourmaline ghosts weave and sway through the blue-gray forest, devouring all who let themselves be caught by the faint wisps. Tears stream down from eyes raw from the snowing ashes. A bright droplet cuts a path through the dry flakes of blood sheathing the boy's cheeks. His wails are wordless, thoughtless, pure appeals for something to end this nightmare.

In the heavens, the angels' trumpets rend the firmament apart, splitting the rightful from the wrathful with thunderous magenta streaks. The trees reach up, supplicating the beings to cease their destruction, but no one hears them. All their leaves have been carbonized by the ghosts, no more can they whisper in the winds. Dead branches sheathed in deader bark are all they have left.

Beneath, the ashy dirt hides a root from the boy, tripping him treacherously. His knees strike the ground, but his arms catch the earth before it can meet his head. The fine white dust coats his even whiter hands. It's still painfully hot. This burning sensation pushes him to stand back more than any will he might still have. Everything is ash, now. Everything except this stupid little box.

The boy hated the box. He didn't know how or why, but that little box had killed everyone, and it was gonna kill him too. Despite that, it and its small blinking green light were his salvation. The boy did not understand this paradox, did not even acknowledge it. He just got back on his feet and kept running. They wouldn't be far behind him, despite his headstart. Their legs were much longer.

Another blinding mauve slash bisected the sky, hitting landside this time. The explosion's tremor made him stumble, and the echoing thunder that followed nearly knocked him back down, but he took the next step, and the next, and the next...

He never even saw them. An arm bigger than he was snatched him off the ground. One gauntlet held his torso with ease while the other carefully picked the box out of his trembling arms. The boy held onto it with all the strength he had, screaming and pulling, but the hulking figure shrouded in shadows pulled it from his hands as though he wasn't even there, a steel claw resisted by a boy made of cloud and vapor. Many more apparitions showed themselves and surrounded him.

It looked at the box for a few seconds before throwing him to the ground like some discarded toy. Then, without missing a beat, it raised a gun towards the boy. Looking down into the barrel of Death, the boy did not feel the peace and belonging his parents claimed should accompany the Good Death. He did not want to die. This impulse took over his entire existence, yet it froze him in place completely, as he stared into the lasgun's aperture.

This instant might have lasted half a second, or hours. Everything beside the weapon's shimmering lens went out of focus and joined the shadowy darkness.

Then, the soldier's head bloomed, as a red flower might. Scarlet petals unfolded from his half-white, half-black visor, delicately extending their crimson tendrils outwards. Ever so slowly, the lasgun turned its gaze elsewhere, suddenly losing interest in him. Finally, the boy looked upwards and saw it. An angel had come for him, taller than mother's house. More lillies blossomed in the azure forest, but the boy only cared about the angel of Death. Red-hot blood poured from a gaping hole in its chest, but that didn't matter. A pink halo encompassed its twinkling eyes, he was saved...

Will archive in something, eventually. Writing dreams is fun, being confusing and ambiguous is a feature, not a bug.

The thing about fiat currencies is that they will always fail the moment idiots get into power and flood the market. ohh, so that's how the rrat field fits into this. This concept of automated censoring is pretty cool, like a normal human's immune system against memetic hazards. Only barely related, but it reminds me of the cosmic censorship hypotheses, whereas the universe would function so as to never allow the observation of a naked singularity, because such an occurrence would break its rules. Sound pretty chuuni put like that, but it made sense when explained properly...
Also, madame Montre love, she's hot.

It's worked out a bit weird, it has a bunch of indirect lore because I'm having autism about laying down foundations before working on the worlds and societies themselves. One of the greentexts mentions morig and a war against global, there's the morinium doc (https://rentry.org/morinium)) which has a bunch of worldbuilding peppered in the illegible autism, and there's the mecha-related docs now.
Funnily enough, in that dream sequence the boy and the angels are deadbeat aligned, but the marine-looking dude isn't. The hint for his allegiance is pretty easy to miss.
Also, thank you! Appreciate it.

Fiat currencies are founded on the idea that currency is supposed to be an item of trade, and not of wealth. Fiat curency exists as an intermediary resource and not something you hoard. If fiat currency is used that way, it does work.
