I like vtubers because they were the first to take streams, universally accepted as the worst entertainment medium, and actually make them interesting
the streamer-audience relationship developing actual emotional stakes for both sides, even behind all the kayfabe/compartmentalization/projections/schizophrenia, to the point where both streamer and viewer are compelling themselves to act against their own self-interest with only the emotional bonds of that relationship
it's rare, but only vtubers have ever pulled it off, and those vtubers are the only streamers people without a lobotomy can enjoy

I have a theory I call Borat 0. The opportunity to take an audience into your home and show them something entertaining and beautiful makes vtubing a very high stakes place. One day, all the world might be at Borat 3, if you've watched one and two you might get a feeling the camera shyness is different. Thankfully, some people beat the filter and do something beautiful.
