After seeing the designs from the recent big way of indie agencies, I'm kinda glad I decided to go for a very simple design. They're starting to all look really over-done and generic, or wildly outlandish.

Pretty niche, but might work. I've seen a few retro and retro-like games get some good traction.

Avoid Apex as an indie vtuber. It's not worth it.

I’m becoming vtuber again and already remembering why it’s hard, and why I stopped it, messaged artist but they didn’t reply in 4 days In middle of a convo, do I look for a new one by now? Seems like they just don’t wanna do it

You can just "be yourself" and be a streamer without playing a character. This is like 80% of the reason why /asp/ recommends against kayfabe, not only do most viewers who watch give 0 fucks about kayfabe, it's not something most streamers can keep up on their own.

>> No.5101663

What are you even looking for when it comes to Iron Vertex tier rigging? For the most part, it seems like a decent rigging can be had for just $1k.

>> No.5102297

>>5101663
IV is more than decent rigging, but also for me another major aspect is quality control. The stuff's looked over by multiple people so "good enough" doesn't really get passed QA.

>> No.5102421

What would be the dividing line between simple design and basic / generic design? I was thinking of making a simple but at the same time memorable (easy to remember) model, does anyone have examples? one design i can think of is ENA

>> No.5102465

>>5102297
Yeah, but like, what are people actually looking at? Like, good movement on the hair, good perspectives when turning the head and doing 45* angles. I'm seeing rigging that's pretty solid for $800-$1k that any indie can get started with.

Plus, unless you're a professional VA and have connections that Iron Vertex can exploit themselves, they're not even looking at your models. IV's recent selections have made it clear they know their worth and are clout chasing now to get bigger names for more expensive rig work.

>> No.5102475

>I'm seeing rigging that's pretty solid for $800-$1k that any indie can get started with.
This is true, I'd never argue otherwise. However, I have the money to comfortably be able to pay for IV rigging with no impact to my lifestyle, so that I can basically have a "one and done" rigged model instead of having to upgrade down the line. I'm fussy when it comes to details as well, which is part of it.

>>5102475
Absolutely not, and never will be. But if you can, why not.

>> No.5102931

>>5102421
I'd say the dividing line is your character and accessories. There are quite a few vtubers with super simple looking models but are very successful.

>> No.5103655

Speaking of rigging, it's kinda annoying to see all these riggers showcasing their Live2D rigging works and only doing the bare minimum.

>no mouth shapes
>very limited demonstration of movement

Unless you never plan to add new accessories or getting new costumes in the future, it's never a "one and done".

Does IV have priority slots for returning customers or grant you a path for continued business? Because if not that could be an argument against going with them as getting further work is not going to be easy.

>> No.5106985

>>5106825
I mean one and done more so in the idea of the core design. I know exactly what I want from the main design and how I want it to look, and the artist is skilled enough to pull that off, so I also want to do the artwork justice No need to re-do/fix up an existing thing if I pay for quality off the bat. New costumes and whatnot are a separate issue that I doubt will be a concern in the foreseeable future. I do think they have extra slots for existing customers, as theres a bunch of people that seem to get a bunch of special models from them constantly, but can't say for certain.

Is there any market for old retro games? not as in the SNES or NES era but before then like text based adventures?
seems like a lot of people on twitch wouldn't have the patience or imagination to watch that but the people who do like it would love someone else to pick it up
