I really can't blame her. Mid-to-upper rank play becomes a slog really fast when half of the people you play against are coordinating on voice comms. Even worse, they're all running combinations of stuff like Dead Hard, Unbreakable, Decisive Strike, Boil Over, Adrenaline, and so on. For those that don't play, dbd is weird because unlike games like Apex, LoL or Starcraft, you will inevitably hit red ranks with enough hours, even without deep game knowledge. How hard you grind or how intensely you practice really only factors into how long it takes. Instead of +MMR or -MMR, you gain -1/0/+1/+2 rank pips, so it's weighted toward ranking up over time. Even the monthly rank reset doesn't put you all the way back to rank 20. Red ranks in dbd are such a shitshow because it's the equivalent of Gold through GM all lumped together. All that's to say given enough time, sweaty killer Gura may be inevitable.

The number one tip I can give for new survivors is don't play scared. You'll die more often, but you'll also improve much faster. Number two is always try to have a plan on where to run next. When you're on a gen, look around for windows and pallets that can serve as an escape route. Anyway, keep at it! Rope some friends into playing and also give killer a try. Playing killer will actually make you a better survivor and vice versa.
