Just because Tempus sucks, doesn't mean that male vtubers are conceptually flawed. A male vtuber with a good concept and proper banter skills should be enjoyable as an entertainer just as much as a fleshtuber would be, especially if he leans into the roleplaying, in which casd he has even more opportunities for creating good content than an average streamer would.
I also think it's an audience issue, since vtubers acting like bros don't get as much clicks as the ones who play into fujo or yume fantasies. It's the same with chicks: actual good content gets passed up for titty streamers and Gura living off her debut hype for years. Just more content creators to watch for me, and it's nice that they wouldn't make fun of me for being a weeb like some flesh/no-cam streamers/youtubers I watch. The humor and type of content is pretty in line with them anyway, at least when they aren't going out of their way to appeal to women. I could easily recommend someone like, say, Bettel to fans of classic Game Grumps/SBFP-style let's plays or streamers like Vinesauce and Jerma.
