AX isn't OffKai. Some vtuber companies did show up to AX last year though. Vshojo had a huge display where they announced kson, also there was a joint booth with PhaseConnect and Tsunderia. AX is absolutely fucking expensive though so no Phase this year, Vshitshow is having another event there and there's a nijisanji show announced now but other than that don't expect much from AX.

OffKai literally invite anyone. If you want to go and bang a bunch of 2views at the hotel, OffKai is for you.

It's a small con that just started, If you have even half an idea about how cons work, you'd know they can't get the expensive/bigger guests because apperance fees are just too much. It's why you see a bunch of small names at startup cons for voice actors and a shit ton of e-celebs, because most of them just want to get their name out there.
Give it a few more years to grow, and if the vtuber world outside Japan is still going and the con gets reasonably big, expect Hololive. Hell, they didn't even come to Acen this year, and that's one of the biggest anime cons in the country, and by far the biggest in the Midwest.

I'm not saying these shitty live action regional events matter. They don't, they are worthless garbage.
But HoloEN gen 3 is still missing and it has been 2 years already.
Cover does not bother hosting or organizing anything with them or promoting them, 2022 was full of breaks and 2023 is just more of the same.
The numbers have dropped so much and there isn't the same hype there was before. HoloEN is like a marriage that has no more love left, it never had any children, there's no passion. They just stay together because it's more convenient to split the rent.
It's obvious most of HoloEN only want their easy paycheck and Cover is fine letting branch stagnate away.
So of course they aren't going to many events, nobody gives a fuck. They don't really want to promote the branch that much, they have almost no interest in growing it or gaining more fans.

Eh, vtuber shit has exploded in the artist alley. Last year I saw very small amounts of it, a few stickers, one or two posters. But now there was a decent chunk of vtuber stuff, largely HololiveEN and NijiEN, that was covering about 15% of the booths, which is a pretty large amount. I'll add that those people live and die on trends and fads, so plenty will jump to the newest big thing to make their money. The amount of vtuber stuff was rivaling the newest FotM anime stuff. I won't say that Cover is braindead and fucking up their popularity by not doing things like releasing EN3 or pushing into the larger cons in the US, but missing out on this small con isn't a big deal for them.

It's more Cover's decision at that point. Kiara has pushed to go to plenty of cons, as have a few others. But at the end of the day, just like every other big name attendee, they charge a fee. Is it too high? Probably, because the NUMBERS are stagnating in the EN sphere so more exposure would be better, but trying to keep them busy non-stop every other weekend at some con seems completely fruitless and just asking to get them burnt out of direct fan interaction.

It was pretty fun to have Phase at Acen this year, they even got a large table spot right up in front which is typically reserved for large corporate groups like Crunchy Roll/Funimation, Rightstuf, and Viz, but it probably got them a hell of a lot of exposure to people who might normally have only a very small exposure to vtubers. They had someone talking to people on the floor at least 3 different times. The only thing I'll say is that they need to drop the fair treatment schtick for what they bring to sell at the con. I went to the booth at 12pm on Friday and they were already sold out of Pippas. Ended up having to buy used goods to get what I wanted, but I guess I'm glad they were willing to sell the display models in the end.
