Personally I've seen a good number of people start on YouTube and then try twitch and realize that twitch is easier to grow on. I do think if you are going to seriously advertise, as in spend money on it and everything, you will get more out of it on YouTube than you would on Twitch simply because a much larger number of people use YouTube than twitch. And conversion from Twitter, TikTok, other social media, and (obviously) yt shorts are muh better if you are using your YouTube as the end destination than a twitch.

But at the end of the day, most chuubas just don't have the time money and skill to do all that stuff well enough to get good returns on YouTube. They just want to stream, and just streaming is a quick path to having absolutely no viewers on YouTube, while just streaming is a legit path to getting viewers on twitch (with a little bit of networking at least, but networking is very easy on twitch compared to YouTube). I mean YouTube requires fucking 1000 subs to even raid people. It makes it so difficult for small streamers.

Depends what you're doing with it. My experience has not been great, though I'm in a poor space for it, and demanding a lot out of it, since I'm recording sketches. When it works, it works reasonably well, but it's very inconsistent. If you want broad gestures, it's fine-ish. Just don't expect consistent fine detail. It frequently loses track of my hands, probably because of the space I'm in, though I think wearing a white long sleeve shirt has improved detection somewhat. Overall, I'm underwhelmed, but I'd much rather have it than not.

I'll be honest as someone who did twitch for 2 years and only ever got 140 followers with the meme-able 2 - 3 views.

It has personally stagnated for me, and deleting vods from history after 2 weeks means that most of those 2 years went up in smoke unless I personally archived it elsewhere.

I've switched to YouTube and while I only have 22 subs now, I make a few hundred impressions every now and again when I go back and look at my analytics. Twitch has been shit for discovery unless people actively want to seek new streamers out.

Youtube at least I have a portfolio people can go back to once they discover me.

You can definitely do better than my current model on less than $1k. I'm working with an artist and rigger now to redo things and my momma quoted me just under that. Definitely take the time to put aside a bit of money and commission somebody with a visible catalog and experience over the very cheap option. If all you want is to get started immediately, its still worth it to PNGtube first rather than fight against your own model. I doubt anyone's looked close enough but the rigging on my current is so stiff I'd wager I'm under 15deg of rotation without something breaking or tearing.
