They might have done an arrangement similar to what labels do to their artists, they front the money and dock it from their royalties and album sales.

The Pekora one he started in the beginning of the month, and Niji would be ahead. When Miko got several golds it became clear that he had to remove her as well, but then the events unfolded as I described
He never actually posted a "no first army" tally separated from the "no first army, korone and koyori" tally, he just added Korone and Koyori to the "first army" and refused to count their golds when it became clear that they would swing the month.

Every single one of his attempts backfired because different Holos that he didn't have removed started getting gold.
